Deck Run - Twin Headed Giant —Jan. 26, 2015
Over the weekend I played in a THG tournament at my LGS. As per the custom banlist Palichron, Tooth and Nail and Phantasmal Image were replaced by Phyrexian Metamorph, Negate and Yavimaya Coast. I partnered with a Captain Sisay deck. The results were as follows:
Game 1 - Win
We versed a Marath, Will of the Wild combo deck partnered with a Karador, Ghost Chieftain reanimator deck. Karador got off to a fast start, but after dropping a Concerated Sphinx, forced a board wipe taking out some of his mana dorks. Sisay drew into Crucible of Worlds, tutor'd a Strip Mine and with a Rings of Brighthearth in play put the opposition into an LD lock. Our opponents scooped.

Game 2 - Win
This time we were up against 2 control decks, Brago, King Eternal and Zedruu the Greathearted. My deck sat in control mode, protecting Sisay as much as possible and shutting down things like an opponent's Time Warp. This game went into overtime. On the last turn before a draw was called, Sisay was able to pull out a phenomenal play - Viridian Joiner + Umbral Mantle giving infinite green mana, turning Thespian's Stage into a Dryad Arbor and equipping the mantle and stacking triggers to copy a Savannah getting white mana for Sisay into an Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre destroying a donated Statecraft and swinging for lethal. That was a good game.

Game 3 - Win
This game saw us versing some other league veterans, sporting Maelstrom Wanderer storm and another Damia, Sage of Stone combo control deck. Early game, Wanderer Burning Wished for Volcanic Awakening. Putrefy destroyed his Chromatic Lantern, slowing him down long enough that I could tutor for Mindbreak Trap. With Sisay Survival of the Fittest tutoring for Loyal Retainers off of a discarded Avacyn, Angel of Hope and then reanimating, the LD was coming my way. Thanks to Mindbreak Trap though, I was able to shut it down. Drawing into Mystical Teachings, I was able to shut down a Cyclonic Rift and Beast Within an otherwise lethal Maelstrom Wanderer. Sisay was able to combo off, playing the entire deck and beating for lethal.
