Selvala, Explorer Returned seems like an extremely fun commander: everyone gets to draw a card, and I get a little bonus. Basically, the Parley ability is the reason why I like this card as my commander; I like commanders that interact with everyone. Most of this deck was built with cards I simply had lying around, so I have yet to get the cards I need (particularly lands).

To feed off her ability, I based my deck around two things: big creatures and life gain. With cards like True Conviction, Noble Purpose, and Victory's Herald , I am able to gain a lot of life quickly. I don't feel a need to explain the big creatures. They're big, and they're creatures.

Soul of New Phyexia is my budget version of Avacyn, Angel of Hope. If I have a Karametra, God of Harvests on the field, 5 mana is not hard to hit, and Asceticism's regen mechanic can be a help, too.

When I get Felidar Sovereign, should I consider adding either Platinum Angel or Platinum Emperion, or would I be fine to simply rely on lasting through my opponent's turns (assuming Lurking Predators didn't put it on the field)?

Also, Avacyn, Angel of Hope would be great in here, but is she worth $30 if the deck is mostly for fun but with the hopes of being able to hold its own?
