Mono-black creature burn.

Standard* Midrange Mono-Black

Sideboard

Midrange/Control deck for mono-black. Why play counter spells when you can just choose what to get rid of?

  • 4 x Fatal Push Because why not, everything in standard is fast besides blue-red control which we have a side board to crush.
  • 4 x Vraska's Contempt 4 mana kill almost any creature including Hazoret the Fervent, Verdurous Gearhulk and many other strong meta creatures
  • 2 x Essence Extraction Only a recent add, found to be great against early creatures and aggro decks in game 1, heals and kills some things, nice card.
  • 2 x Never / Return Great against midrange strategies and control matchups, also a tiny bit of graveyard hate vs Graveyard based decks.
  • 4 x Ifnir Deadlands A great land that helps in the late game in our grind type playstyle. The sacrifice mechanic works well against indestructible creatures and current powerhouses like Bristling Hydra.
  • 2 x Noxious Gearhulk One of the many wincons of the deck, heals us and has a nice 5/4 body with menace and removes their biggest non indestructible/hexproof creature.
  • 2 x Yahenni's Expertise A great sweeper, amazing with Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet on the board and also works amazing with Live Fast
  • 3 x Cruel Reality most underrated card in Amonkhet, when the card is played it decimates opponents, "But what if they have token generators like Nisa and New Liliana" we run a total of 27 pieces of removal, we can just kill the tokens and watch them wither.
  • 3 x Demon of Dark Schemes A small sweeper and a creature returner, more of a win con but definitely sweeps. Nothing better then returning a Noxious Gearhulk at instant speed.
  • 3 x Cruel Reality the god tier card that wins games, the only reason it wasn't used in the past is it takes a while to get to turn 7, but it turns out if you run 27 pieces of removal you can get there quite easily. This card withers opponents away with ease and becomes crazy when doubled up. 100x sure shot bad ass
  • 3 x Demon of Dark Schemes Gets our wincon back on the board and also swings for 5 in the air, dangerous.
  • 2 x Noxious Gearhulk 5/4 menace.
  • 1 x Gonti, Lord of Luxury Win-con from opponents deck.
  • 3 x Live Fast Draws two cards and gets us energy for our demon of darkschemes to be a real threat
  • 1 x Arguel's Blood Fast   Draws us cards at instant speed for mana and health, also when the land flips can ramp us into Cruel Reality as well as be a sac outlet for our reanimation effects.
  • 2 x Treasure Map   This card is what brought me back to this deck, being able to scry every turn then flipping it to create 3 Treasures to ramp us into cruel reality by turn 4 is crazy. Also once flipped can allow us to draw an extra card per turn.
  • The mana base for this deck was quite simple being mono-black, but i wanted to make use of the ifnir deadlands as well.
  • 14 x Swamp, we aint gonna play wastes are we.
  • 4 x Aether Hub, Gives us energy towards demon of dark schemes as well as a nice bit of fixing if we need it.
  • 4 x Ifnir Deadlands extra removal on a land is nothing to frown at, also the self hard helps a bit with Arguel's Blood Fast
  • 2 x Desert of the Glorified helps prevent mana flooding late and is extra removal for the dead lands.
