Welcome to my first modern deck.

What does the deck do exactly?

It ensures that anything you play is killed or countered. Once in a lifetime, something will stick. Secondly, it controls. Cruelly controls because, you know, Cruel Ultimatum. Eventually, you or your opponent, or both, will be like David Byrne up there in that video.

Card Choices Explained

Instants

Cryptic Command: Mainly used to counter and draw. It's all right.

Electrolyze : A little dying and drawing.

Lightning Bolt: Die.

Mana Leak: No. I can't let you play that.

Remand: Take that back.

Shadow of Doubt: People play fetchlands, so I prevent that.

Spell Snare: No. Counters some powerful stuff in modern.

Sphinx's Revelation: Replaced Dig Through Time. Draws cards and helps regain life in the late game. Sad to see DTT gone.

Terminate: Die.

Sorceries

Anger of the Gods: Let everything die. Kind of.

Inquisition of Kozilek: Some fun discard spell never hurt anyone.

Cruel Ultimatum: The core of the deck.

Creatures

Snapcaster Mage: Allows me to reuse my Nope and Die spells. He then just brings on the beats for days.

Artifacts

Batterskull: Better Batter Baseball.

Sideboard

Counterflux : Uncounterable nope for storm.

Damnation: Comes in against creature-heavy decks and Hexproof.

Extirpate: Instant speed combo stopper that can't be responded to.

Kataki, War's Wage: Used against Affinity. Poops all over it.

Keranos, God of Storms: Helps with the control/grindy matches.

Rakdos Charm: Solid sideboard tech. Used against Twin, Melira, and other graveyard strategies.

Slaughter Games: Used against any combo deck. Can't be countered is kind of nice too.

Stony Silence: Used against Affinity.

Thoughtseize: Nope. No combo.

Vendilion Clique: Helps against combo decks and can be a 3/1 beatstick.
