After lots of playtesting... —March 23, 2012

So it was pointed out to me that Galvanic Blast was kind of odd in my deck since it tried winning with burn where I the deck itself really didn't want to do that. So I took the 4 out for 3 Oblivion Ring and 1 more Slagstorm to deal with things that I had trouble with before like plainswalkers and swords. I replaced the the 3 Oblivion Ring in the sideboard for 1 more Slagstorm and 2 Whipflare for a total of 10 boardwipes... screw you aggro decks. so we will be trying this build for FMN and if it does what it is supposed to then I can try it at the GP.

Where is Chandra's PhoenixMTG Card: Chandra's Phoenix? I would go with maybe 10 MountainMTG Card: Mountain and 3 PlainsMTG Card: Plains as with sphere and your only white spell at 4cc you should easily make the 2nd white mana by turn 4. Glad to see something original in the format good luck! +1

I am going to be doing some playtesting tonight, and even more at FNM. I didn't put Chandra's PhoenixMTG Card: Chandra's Phoenix mainly because I have Kuldotha PhoenixMTG Card: Kuldotha Phoenix running in the deck. I find that I am usually to busy controlling the board and when I am not, Kuldotha PhoenixMTG Card: Kuldotha Phoenix is just all around better to have in play. Then again depending on how I run my sideboard, I may switch over for Chandra's PhoenixMTG Card: Chandra's Phoenix so I can run Grafdigger's CageMTG Card: Grafdigger's Cage. but then again it kinda depends on my bad matches.

I like it. I say some Grafdigger's CageMTG Card: Grafdigger's Cage and Chandra's PhoenixMTG Card: Chandra's Phoenix sideboard would be nice for grave based matchups to shut them down. +1'd. Awesome idea, truly. Good luck with it!

I really like this deck idea. Kuldotha PhoenixMTG Card: Kuldotha Phoenix is a card that I've felt has been mostly overlooked, and it fits really well here. Your sideboard should definitely include a couple Ratchet BombMTG Card: Ratchet Bombs. They are great against token decks, and work for your Metalcraft.

So sadly the only guy I got to playtest with today played some stupid, janky Leonin Relic-WarderMTG Card: Leonin Relic-Warder deck where he played Leonin Relic-WarderMTG Card: Leonin Relic-Warder then while his first ability was on the stack would Saving GraspMTG Card: Saving Grasp it or similar to exile my stuff permanently... so it was just a terrible match period and I saw no way to beat it with my deck ever... especially when he got Liquimetal CoatingMTG Card: Liquimetal Coating on board =.= I added a potential sideboard that will probably need some revision.

Anytime. :) Also since Grafdigger's CageMTG Card: Grafdigger's Cage ruins your only creature and Lux CannonMTG Card: Lux Cannon almost never goes off I would consider swapping them for Oblivion RingMTG Card: Oblivion Ring and Nihil SpellbombMTG Card: Nihil Spellbomb. For matches against undying you can trigger the spellbomb to remove their graveyard before the creature has a chance to come back.

So I removed 1 Day of JudgmentMTG Card: Day of Judgment for 1 SlagstormMTG Card: Slagstorm mainboard. The SlagstormMTG Card: Slagstorm, 2 Grafdigger's CageMTG Card: Grafdigger's Cage, 2 Lux CannonMTG Card: Lux Cannon, 1 Gideon JuraMTG Card: Gideon Jura, 1 Torpor OrbMTG Card: Torpor Orb, and 1 Ratchet BombMTG Card: Ratchet Bomb became 3 Oblivion RingMTG Card: Oblivion Ring which gets pesky Planeswalkers and the such I had trouble reaching before, along with stuff that I simple simple don't want to hit the graveyard if I can avoid it, 3 Nihil SpellbombMTG Card: Nihil Spellbomb for decks like B/U Zombies or B/U control that rely heavily on their graveyards, and 2 CombustMTG Card: Combust for stupid decks that try to always counter my stuff... That's right, I am looking at you Delver decks t(<.<t)

lol, yeah for the phoenix :), I remember OVER using that guy and now you just don't see metalcraft outside of tempered steel decks. I'm glad with the build here and honestly I can't add more than to emphasize the Grafdigger's CageMTG Card: Grafdigger's Cage and Chandra's PhoenixMTG Card: Chandra's Phoenix on the sideboard. +1

The reason that I don't play Grafdigger's CageMTG Card: Grafdigger's Cage + Chandra's PhoenixMTG Card: Chandra's Phoenix in the sideboard is simply because I know they will be running artifact hate post sideboard. When i did try running it, it was destroyed 4/5 times or they would Mental MisstepMTG Card: Mental Misstep it (who plays that that >.>) that and it takes up a large portion of my sideboard that i would other wise have better cards for other matchups. However, thank-you for the input, I did try it and it just wasn't working for me is all.

Have you thought about Faithless LootingMTG Card: Faithless Looting in this deck? Maybe it can help you accelerate your game a bit, and you can always discard a phoenix to make him come back from the graveyard, although it can give you a bit of card disadvantage... =/

Also I feel obliged to mention Arc TrailMTG Card: Arc Trail as another incredibly effective way to neuter aggro.
