Cowboy Diplomacy

Commander / EDH

Lord_Murdock

The object of this deck is to paint big targets on your opponents' heads, while using bribery tactics and other dissuading methods to keep yourself safe. Sometimes, you just need to sew a little chaos!

First, it's important to keep your shields up. Sphere of Safety, Kazuul, Tyrant of the Cliffs, and similar effects make you out to be a less suitable target for your opponents. You can also use the "Vow" enchantments, Crescendo of War, and Duelist's Heritage to give a bit of a boost to your opponents' creatures. Let them attack each other all they want, as long as you're safe! There's nothing wrong with letting the other players get out of hand as long as you have some way of pointing them away from yourself.

It's also important to take advantage of those Bounty counters. Something like a Terminate on an Isochron Scepter is a great way to capitalize on them, and Bounty Hunter is a perfect creature to work alongside your commander. Since creatures are gonna die anyway, why not use that to your advantage? Big enchantments like Grave Betrayal and Debtors' Knell keep your field full of your opponents' threatening creatures.

Now, how does this deck win? Not very easily. It's built more for the mid-game, 1v1-ing an opponent at the end is difficult. You could always go for the Revel in Riches route, but someone could easily stop you if they are able. Overwhelming Splendor can cut your opponent down to size, and hopefully you have enough big demons or angels to beat them. I brought these cards up earlier, but Crescendo of War and Duelist's Heritage can also enable you to one-shot someone with Mathas, since people often don't pay attention to the fact that he has Menace.
