Countryside Treasure Hunt

Modern

TheCDC

An attempt at making the "11.6% of the time it works every time" deck a little more consistent while also staying super budget.

Opening Hand

Your opening hand must have either Treasure Hun or Countryside Crushers, no ifs, ands, or butts.

Mid game

Play the crusher ASAP. Ensure damage gets through using the utility lands: Smoldering Spires and Soaring Seacliff .

Winning

The aforementioned lands help you evade blockers so long as there aren't too many, but Rogue's Passage lets you get through anything.

Molten Vortex will win by itself very slowly, ideally it removes blockers or finished off your opponent.

Not Losing

This deck is very fragile, too much spot removal leaves you high and dry. Another thing to watch out for your library, as both Hunt and the Crusher burn card like nobody's business.

Always

Keep a hand with Hunt or Crusher.

Have exactly one blue source.

Never

Keep a hand without Hunt or Crusher.

Play hunt if you already have a Crusher and the mana to cast it.

Play more than 2 blue sources, you need maximum red density to make Molten Vortex worthwhile.
