A little sneak peak at the Vorthos that will be eventually added to the description ;)

There's been a million swaps in the last week, but I wanted to highlight the most recent to display the direction I'm taking the deck currently.

First, cuts.

After dozens and dozens of test hands and what I believe the kids call, "goldfishing," I've decided to cut the following cards:

I have put the Decaying Soil + Deathrender combo aside for now. While it is a great combo that I want to work, the threshold was too difficult to activate without carving a section of the deck for a self mill/dredge package. I hated seeing Soil in my opening hand, and death render was becoming too expensive.

Mirage Mirror and Sidisi, Undead Vizier were both lackluster/not vocused enough. Better things to come.

Necropotence: While powerful, on the suggestion of user Fen, I've taken it out do to the anti synergy with my Haakon package, which as you'll see I've expanded.

Now, the adds!

Based on these you will see the direction I want to go. More Haakon synergy and discard, but also a bigger mass of creatures.

Twilight Prophet: A card I own that I've been wanting to try anyway. Lifegain and token(ascend) synergies.

Sun Titan: Another card I own, suggested by Fen. Good recursion for most of my important pieces.

Liliana, Heretical Healer  Flip: Does it all. Lifegain, tokens, discard(for Haakon), recursion.

Razaketh, the Foulblooded This card is just ridiculous, and with Elenda at basically any power he becomes a game finisher.

Key to the City: Discard helps Haakon, unblockable helps Voltron Elenda angle, and the card selection is nice.

Those are my thoughts for now. Thanks for reading.

Other notes:

Daedalus19876 AHHH it isn't ready yet!

I was going to tag you as soon as I was happy with it and had a description. Would appreciate your full thoughts when I have a more respectable deck put together :)

Alright I'm back Suns_Champion!

Definitely a fun list I was play testing it for a bit as well. It does exactly as what you envisioned it to be, a restrained combo list. All the cards I would consider recommending is already in your maybe board but I highly suggest considering adding in Steelshaper's Gift to the main board. Reason why is due to Orzhov colors needing that extra boost in Card Advantage (CA) or mana. More often than not it would go for Skullclamp or Sword of the Animist , and utility wise it will go for your Nim Deathmantle / Deathrender .

On a side note, I wasn't entirely happy to see Cradle of Vitality all the times I drew into it, always felt a bit lack luster. Some more cards you can consider if you want to add in more creature heavy route would be Oversold Cemetery as a possible recursion engine, albeit a bit slow. Anguished Unmaking is also a great removal spell in Orzhov.

Hope that helps!

Your deck list has some really cool ideas, especially that Haakon, Stromgald Scourge and Ashes of the Fallen , I like it a lot! Also your deck's background is so beautiful!

I have Elenda deck too (Saint Elenda Reborn), check it out if you like to and tell me what do you think :)

I am just going to start by saying I love the deck, and I usually HATE Elenda decks because most people don't know about the replacement effect or don't care enough about recurring her.

Next I have some purposed cuts:

  • Ashes of the Fallen: I get it, it combos with Haakon. But outside of Haakon what does that card do for you?
  • Weaponcraft Enthusiast: I just don't get the point I'd much rather have Fleshbag here...
  • Midnight Reaper: I just think Dark Prophecy is better, it's an enchantment so it's harder to remove and it says CREATURE not nontoken creature.

I came here to give thoughts, only to find a beautiful deck with beautiful formatting (seriously, I need to find out how to do this).

+1 from me kind sir!

hkhssweiss thanks for returning! I agree on your assessment of Cradle of Vitality and Steelshaper's gift, so I've swapped those along with a few other things.

Leonantti thank you! I will check yours out when I find some time!

DrkNinja thank you! I appreciate the cut suggestions!

  • Ashes of the Fallen: It does nothing else, I know. But I want this deck to do this cool thing, and for the power level I'm aiming for I'm okay with a few niche cards.
  • Weaponcraft Enthusiast: Is a substitute Elenda for my Nim Deathmantle + Ashnod's Altar combo. In the case Elenda sees too much hate, I need something low to the ground to step in. That said It is probably an easy cut if I need a slot.
  • Midnight Reaper: Yeah this has been disappointing in play-testing. My problem with dark Prophacy is that it's not sac-able, so in the case of me comboing off it might kill me. I think I'll end up going with Harvester of Souls as a high cmc "best of both worlds" card.

Darkshadow327 thank you very much! Though I'd still love any feedback for the deck... don't be fooled by the formatting, I still need help with decks haha!

You can find the code I use in the description of my "drawing board" deck: Suns_Champion's Well of Ideas!

Ooo, ooo, pick on me! I have an idea! Martyr's Bond could be decent if you wanted to go with that. Phyrexian Tower and Miren, the Moaning Well are some good sack outlets that are hard to remove since they are lands.
