Core19 Pre-Release

Pre-release

SpeedGodNinjask

This is the deck I used for the Core19 Pre-release. It is Esper-coloured and uses lots of lifelinking-based effect (as well as the lifegain itself, obviously). It stars the foil, 'Chromium, the Mutable', the Elder Dragon as well as the crazy stupid card - Fraying Omnipotence.

Fraying Omnipotence is a rare black sorcery spell ( and ), which halves everyone's everything: lifetotal, handsize, creatures - "Round up each time". This card caused me to lose the first round in my first match because for some reason I thought it was a good idea to play lmfao, caused me to lose the first round in my fourth match when my opponent played Chaos Wand on me and found it, and, allowed me to win the third round of the fourth match - which won me the game ^_^ When I played Fraying Omnipotence, we were both within one-hit range, luckily it was my turn. I remember we had a small crowd around us as our game took so long as both of our decks had life gain. It was around 5:30AM and my brain was so tired it was just telling me, kind of like an instinct, 'this, this will work'. I really could not for the life of me work the maths out. My body wanted to shut down from lack of sleep and nourishment, so I just played it. We both proceeded to half our lifetotals and came even closer death, we both had only one creature standing, and I ended up discarding my entire hand. His creature was bigger than mine, but my creature was Two-Headed Zombie - a creature with Menace. I then moved to combat and attacked, snatching the victory. Somebody from the crowd stepped forward and said "wow, you managed to turn an unplayable card into your winning move", which really struck me as I thought about how each time before that Fraying Omnipotence had cost me a round.

I'm obviously super proud of that match.

I like to keep my pre-release decks together, but there comes a time when one must dismantle a deck they've made in order to do better things. This is documentation of what I worked with that night when I won three out of four matches.

Things to note: This was my second pre-release. I did not make the deck, the nice fella who owns/works at the LGS did, with little input from me - but still some input hehe... The foil promo was my fourth Tolarian Scholar... yay...
