COPYCATS - Riku EDH (Suggestions Wanted!)

Commander / EDH* Combo Toolbox

MTGMania

Copying things for the LOLZ.

Basic Function:

Copy the crap out of every creature and every spell you play for maximum value. Two creatures to take care of with only one spell? You can copy that Beast Within and save yourself all the trouble. The copy possibilities are endless. Riku, in my opinion is an underplayed commander that many people underestimate. Underestimate a double Bonfire of the Damned. This deck can hold it's own in both single-player and multiplayer, BUT you can't expect to fly under the radar for too long with this deck. I'm sorry but I can't think of anyone that isn't scared of you played at least two copies of each spell you cast. For those of you that play Riku know that there are many different strategies with Riku so I decided to have the best of both worlds and have a crazy Spell-slinging, Creature Copying general.

Game 1*

Opponent: Melek, Izzet Paragon (Izzet Burn)

The game started off very loose with both of us hoping to draw into lands. Sadly for my opponent I was the only one that managed to hit consistent land drops. I managed to play Riku of Two Reflections on T5 and have him ready for copying madness. My opponent managed to kill it but I replayed it. I enchanted Riku of Two Reflections with Dual Casting. Later I played Kodama's Reach and copied it three times. Skip forward, my opponent managed to burn me down to near 20 life and I managed to Miracle draw Bonfire of the Damned. Copying it 3 times to deal 20 (having one countered). With a Past in Flames in my hand next turn I flashed back Bonfire of the Damned and copied it for the win.

Game 2

We both started, positive about our hands. I had enough lands to last a few turns and draw into more not to mention Oracle of Mul Daya. We both played land after land with him burning me down to the low 30s. I got out Oracle of Mul Daya and put myself ahead being able to put out Riku of Two Reflections. That's when the fun started. My opponent managed to equip Runechanter's Pike to Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind and swing multiple times until I was at 22 life. I was sure the game was soon to be over when he put out his general and was consistently doing 6+ each turn. I barely managed to Bonfire of the Damned his creatures. Afterwards the "infinite" combo started. Time Warp, copied it twice and took 3 extra turns. On the final turn I used Mystic Retrieval copying that twice again thanks to another Dual Casting. With my two key cards in my hand I managed to Archaeomancer my Bonfire of the Damned and Time Warp after using them once more. My opponent trying to just get onto his next turn lost after I managed to Bonfire of the Damned him to victory.

Game 3

Let's just say 3 Avenger of Zendikar,18 0/1 Plants, an Intet, the Dreamer, and my general out swinging for 422 Damage thanks to an OVERWHELMING Overwhelming Stampede giving +18/+18 to all my guys.

*I will do game logs every so often just to show you the way this commander works.
