Even without Sphinxe's Revelation, Esper control is a viable deck in standard. The birth of this deck is actually fairly weird. Recently, I had to clean up/organize my magic collection and while doing so, took out some of the viable cards for decks. An Esper control build is what I came up with. I have not bought magic cards recently as it is too expensive for me, so it was constructed of older cards such as Sphinx of the Steel Wind, Wall of Reverence, Nevinyrral's Disk, Pacifism, and Doom Blade. Later I realized most of the cards had a viable partner in standard, and this deck was made from that epiphany. Please comment on any ideas, as it is still a baby deck, give suggestions, and upvote if you think it worthy. Thanks for your time.
Card by card analysis (alphabetically) ; with counterpart in my physical build.*Descriptions are of std deck
Banishing Light: Exile target permanent forever, unless they are running enchantment removal. (in for Oblivion Ring)
Dig Through Time: New std card draw. Get the best two cards for the current situation. (in for Phyrexian Arena/Underworld Connections.
Dissolve: Counter target thing. Just not allowing them to play a powerful card. (in for Essence Scatter
Elspeth, Sun's Champion: The decks best win condition. Pump out tokens, or blow up whatever board state the have, then, eventually win with her ultimate. (in for Sorin Markov)
End Hostilities: Board clear, usually followed by a creature win con. (in for Nevinyrral's Disk)
Hero's Downfall: Best removal in standard. Get rid of a control decks walker, or blow up a midrange's creature. (in for Doom Blade)
Murderous Cut: Really sweet to drop this while almost tapped out. Instant speed removal; can't have enough in a control deck. (in for Pacifism)
Negate: Want to cast a removal spell...? That sucks for you... Sweet hard counter, nuff said. (in paper deck)
Prognostic Sphinx: Almost an AEtherling, as it protects itself, and wins games. (in for Blood Baron of Vizkopa and have one in paper deck]]
Pearl Lake Ancient: Huge fatty and is almost impossible to kill. Dodges my own boardwipes, and in the very late game, playing a scry land again is fun. (in for (Teysa, Envoy of Ghosts)
Resolute Archangel: This is a sweet late game drop when I will surely be behind in life, even if just by my own fetch lands and Thoughtseize. (in for Wall of Reverence)
Thoughtseize: Get rid of the worst thing in their hand, depending on your hand. And the life loss is not that bad for this deck. (in for Duress)
Utter End: This REALLY exiles something, gone forever, including gods. (In for Arrest )
Land Base:
13 White sources
15 Blue sources
14 Black sources
Sideboard: here are the cards and what they come in against:(No sideboard for paper version)
Clever Impersonator: In against fat green things

Bile Blight: More aggro hate, or just small creatures.
Negate: When Disdainful Stroke does not work, (Jeskai Combo)
Nyx-Fleece Ram: Aggro wrecker again, and burn when I need more life gain.
