Instant (2)

Enchantment (5)

A fun casual mono-black sacrifice / contamination deck.

I can easily get bitterblossom out turn 2, and contamination out turn 3, to really slow the game down, and some decks it shuts out completely. Bitterblossom, ophiomancer, and bloodghast provide for not only fuel for contamination, but food for my other sac outlsets as well, such as carrion feeder, spawning pit, diabolic intent, et-cetera.

Cards like blood artist, grave pact, mortician beetle, all feed off of the deaths that will be going on. Blood artist is a very viable win condition, and more than makes up for the life loss from bitterblossom.

Ophiomancer has proven to be the all-star of the deck. It keeps Contamination up like nothing else, and provides a deathtoucher each and every upkeep to defend with. And, it gives me a sacrifice each and every turn to pump my Mortician Beetles, Carrion Feeders, Grave Pacts, and Blood Artist. On top of this, even though Ophiomancer only allows for one token to be produced, the other ophiomancers DO STACK when you have an instant sac outlet like carrion feeder, and sac the first token while the others are still on the stack, and then keep sacrifing those tokens as they resolve. Essentially, Having an instant sacrifice option (like carrion feeder) allows for several sacrifices each turn if I have more than one Ophiomancer out due to the intervening "if" clause.

skullclamp has made bloodghast to be the very best sacrifice food possible. I will always draw lands with bloodghast, and can easily have 2 or 3 of them return each and every turn just to be sacrificed. Oboro helps with bloodghast as well if I cannot seem to draw a land. On top of this, skullclamp is just crazy broken in this deck anyway.

When facing heavy or mono black or artifact decks, I can sub in braids in contamination's place. This deck is built to easily sustain braids, but braids and contamination at the same time leaves little food left for carrion feeder, skullclamp, diabolic intent...

Attrition can be subbed in when facing heavy artifact decks, and mind slash I have successfully subbed in place of grave pact when facing decks with little to no creatures.
