A budget alternative to a fairly competitive Commander deck. The objective of this deck was to take the stock Azami, Lady of Scrolls lists and cut the price tag as much as possible while keeping the deck as competitive as possible (With the exception of a Force of Will that I already own, and obviously all the essential cards such as Paradox Engine , Mind Over Matter , and Sensei's Divining Top are all about $20).

Any recommendations would be appreciated, but do remember that this list is intentionally ignoring the Mana Crypt s, Timetwister s, and Time Spiral s of the format.

COMBOS

1) Azami, Lady of Scrolls + Mind Over Matter : This is the main combo focus of the deck. Long-Term Plans is the most effective tutor to grab this, and it's the most surefire way to win. Once it hits the battlefield you can discard a card to untap mana sources and your creatures. With Azami out and enough cards in hand/mana you can dig through your deck until you find Laboratory Maniac and win through him.

2) Azami, Lady of Scrolls + a few other wizards + artifact ramp + Paradox Engine : This is the more fun combo to engage but it's also a but easier to disrupt. Whenever you cast a spell all of your wizards and artifact mana will untap, allowing you to re use that mana to cast more spells that you just drew which will untap your mana and card draw again - allowing you to churn through your entire deck and winning with Laboratory Maniac again. Once a Sensei's Divining Top is out this loop is guaranteed even if you only have one colorless mana from ramp out. You simply activate top's second ability, then draw it off of Azami, Lady of Scrolls . This guarantees you a spell to cast every single time you untap, guaranteeing a win.

3) Dramatic Reversal + Isochron Scepter + (at least two mana from artifacts + Azami, Lady of Scrolls ) / (more than two mana from artifacts): This combination will allow you to draw your entire deck and produce infinite mana very cheaply. It's more fragile than the Mind Over Matter combo and requires more pieces, but when things fall in to place it will make for a much faster win. By activating a copy of Dramatic Reversal that's imprinted on to the Isochron Scepter with your artifact mana, it will untap the mana and the isochron scepter, allowing you to make infinite mana if you're able to tap for more than two. If you have Azami, Lady of Scrolls out then she will untap an infinite amount of times allowing you to definitely make infinite mana and therfore cast Laboratory Maniac and win.
