The concept: squeeze the card and burn advantage out of Sin Prodder and Combustible Gearhulk

The plan: play cards with a normally high mana cost that offer a cheaper alternate cost, like Fiery Temper and Boulder Salvo

The execution: rummage through the deck, casting madness along the way. Whenever I cast madness, I can probably cast a surge card as well. 2 spells for roughly the price of 1, plus a card? Nice. Amp it up a touch with Pyromancer's Goggles to turn an already oppressive pain deck into something devilish.

Core Pieces:

  • Sin Prodder and Combustible Gearhulk. You won't get far without them

  • Evolving Wilds. Thin the deck of mountains, so each Sin Prodder trigger and Gearhulk ETB has a higher likelihood of drawing fuel? Yes please.

  • Drownyard Temple. I was originally going to run Warped Landscape as 5-8 of evolving wilds, but these are better because it can be discarded or Sin Proddered and still be useful later on.

  • Geier Reach Sanitarium: Got nothing you can do? Keep digging.

Enabling Pieces:

  • Chandra, Flamecaller. You know she's value. Boardwipe, aggro, and a repeatable source of madness and card draw. I love my redhead.

  • Insolent Neonate. One mana 1/1 with menace, that has a perfect chump block ability, as well as tribal support from Stensia Masquerade

  • Ravenous Bloodseeker. Repeatable instant discard outlet, buffs itself, and makes a decent blocker if necessary.

  • Mad Prophet. Rummage a bit more, discarding madness and casting, while I refuel my hand. Also has haste to push through a bit of damage if necessary.

  • Wolf of Devil's Breach. Wow. Sin Prodders brother from another mother. Powerful body, another discard outlet, and removal stapled together. Not just creatures, but planeswalkers as well! Wow!

The fuel:

  • Bloodmad Vampire and Incorrigible Youths. Biggest source of combat damage.

  • Stensia Masquerade. Offensive first strike is great considering how fragile most of the creatures in this deck are. In addition, most of my creatures are vampires and take advantage of the second ability. And to make things come full circle, it has madness! The synergy is real guys.
