DaitokujiAmnael I like the card, I just wish it did something else as well! If the opponent's don't have anything to do with life gain, then its just sort of dead in my hand. Definitely a sideboard card if I know who I'm playing against!

True, but the odds of getting it are slim anyway. If not that, try Erebos, God of the Dead and Purphoros, God of the Forge .

Not sure if you're still looking for a spot for No Mercy, but imo Lux Cannon doesn't look like it'll be missed :p Furnace of Rath is sorta on-theme, and Braid of Fire could let you do things with your commander on your upkeep

I like Lux Cannon because its one of the only ways I can remove pesky permanents like enchantments in Red and Black.

That's true, R/B don't have very reliable ways of dealing with enchantments (Chaos Warp is about as good as it gets). It's just Lux Cannon isn't very good/reliable without abusing untap/counter shenanigans. At best, you can remove a pesky enchantment on the 4th turn after playing the Cannon, and the whole time it's been sitting there waiting to be blown up.

I just think the slot might be better suited for a card that works better with the aggressive theme/colours of the deck, rather than a slow defensive play. For the same CMC you could play Whip of Erebos, for instance, or the Furnace of Rath I mentioned previously. Red and Black are good at making your opponent lose, not so much about stopping them from winning.

Now this is your deck and obviously if you're finding Lux Cannon to be of use, then leave it in. Just consider that maybe there are more effective cards for the space in your deck.
