Chromium's revenge

Commander / EDH

jacobzilla90s

Most Chromium decks I have seen rarely want to see Chromium come into play, So i thought i would give one a try where he was mostly the main focus, mostly. The main problem is that almost everything Chromium kinda sucks. He has rampage 2 but evasion, he has pay Esper on upkeep or sac, and he costs eight freaking mana to cast. regardless, there are some, albeit janky, ways around most of Chromium's downsides. Lets talk artifacts first. First and foremost we have the all important Eon Hub, skipping the upkeep cost of Chromium altogether, and leaving more mana for good spells.Chromium wants to be gang blocked, but without trample who would ever do that? That's why we force them to let us go on a rampage. Nemesis Mask forces all creatures that can block Chromium block him. But if that's not good enough why not punish them for not blocking at all or with only one? Grappling Hook is another good way to force creatures to block Chromium, but the real fun comes from Kusari-Gama. How dare they not let Chromium go on a rampage? I guess all their creatures will be taking 7 damage. Lets move on now to some good old spells and enchantments. Chromium costs a lot to play, and he costs 2 more for every time he is put in the command zone. So, why not throw him in the graveyard and use cards like Body Double, Animate Dead, Necromancy, and Dreams of the Dead to avoid that nasty commander tax. However be careful with Dreams of the Dead as it gives Chromium a worse upkeep cost, but with the all important Eon Hub it shouldn't be too much of a problem. Speaking of that pesky upkeep cost, another way around it is Stifle. But it is a one time use unless you get it back with a Mnemonic Wall. (You could also use Disallow too as well but it is pretty much inferior to previous method.) Thrown into the mix there is the tried and true method of producing infinite mana with Deadeye Navigator + Peregrine Drake . Infinite mana is always good and this combo is one of my favorites. It should be self explanatory on why this is good combo, but, I'll just leave Exsanguinate here and carry on. Still Chromium wants to go on a rampage so we have a two more cards to help him with that. Thundercloud Elemental while expensive allows Chromium to be blocked by creatures without flying, and with the Nemesis Mask its really becomes time to rampage. This method of rampaging is also possible with Mystic Decree, however with the unique benefit of having a hilarious interaction with Stormtide Leviathan. But, when the rampaging is done and it is time to beat face, Spot remove and Crux of Fate non dragons to swing for the win. I hope you enjoyed my silly little Elder Dragon Highlander deck. Any suggestions would be cool and much appreciated!

-------EDIT---------

Just got a Serum Visions so I decided to throw that in. Also, I added an Assault Suit because -oh boy- now he can't be saced!By opponents or his ability!
