This is my version of the five color Chromanticore+Soulflayer list Frank Lepore ran a couple weeks ago. The deck is essentially Sidisi Whip with Chromanticore and Soulflayers to make efficient, flexible, and difficult to deal with threats. My list cuts a land for a third Murderous Cut and runs a much different sideboard, though I will be adding Thoughtseize when able. On 2/27/15 I took it to a 3-1 finish at my LGS with the only loss in a three game match against U/R Ensoul Aggro, so I have high hopes for this list. I will be posting updates every Thursday when I can, as I'm playing Temur Rage Combo (Collaborative Standard Deck) on Fridays.

"A Chintzy FNM Deck" (Top 8 4-2) (7-3 Overall) — March 6, 2015

So I lied, I'll be testing this both Thursdays and Fridays now. I started strong at 4-1 then lost a close match in the top 8 to finish 6th overall. My losses were to Mardu Warriors in my first match (two games, both close) and to RG Aggro in top 8 (three razor thin games). Though I was wanting to do a little better, I'm excited about these results, as two of the four wins were in three game matches against Sultai Control, which felt great, to be honest. I'm starting to feel like Soulflayer makes the UB/BUG control matchups favorable pre- and post-sideboard. It's also interesting to note the other wins, both in two games were against mono-red aggro in round four and the ubiquitous Red/White Tokens deck in round five. An interesting note, the dude running the RW deck called my deck "a chintzy FNM deck" after killing him in game two with a Sagu Mauler, a hexproof Soulflayer with a Chromanticore bestowed on it, and a Whip of Erebos and a final life total of 50.

I'm starting to really like the feel of this deck, though I would like to replace the Reclamation Sages with Drown in Sorrows, as I only board it in against Frontier Siege (Outpost Siege was cast against me five times tonight and I lost only one of those games due to a Sorin ultimate which had dwindled my army before the Siege touched the field). I'm still yet to play against Junk of any flavor, so I'll try to get some practice in against those decks tomorrow night.
