I really like Xenagos, the Reveler. A lot. Normally, I'm not a big fan of red, but I fell in love and now I want to make it work! I can already picture it... Xenegos and Purphoros, God of the Forge skipping across a flowery field, holding hands as it burns in their wake!
Since Xenagos is the focus, I figured it would be pretty token-heavy, using a few cards to take advantage for the mana that Xenagos provides (Clan Defiance and Curse of the Swine). The easiest way I found to create more tokens was to use Young Pyromancer and kin.
Suggestions/feedback welcomed! This will probably be a semi-competitive FNM deck.
A good idea I had for Xenagos, The Reveler , I thought that he would work nicely in a Creature Mash deck. You could use Gruul and their multiple bloodrush abilities. Some cards that I think would work great in a deck like these are Ruric Thar, the Unbowed and Ogre Battledriver . Hope this helps! ~
@Khronowars That's definitely a direction that I thought about going with it, but I'm kind of unsure. I almost feel like the token-based route is pretty easy to counter, with Illness in the Ranks and such, with not much to counter it.
Don't forget Ratchet Bomb removes any kind of token.
Sinobite would you have any suggestions to counter it? Or do you think I should go a different route?
I feel like an. R/G/U version of this might be interesting.
If you go the route of RWG I would trade Druid's Deliverance for Rootborn Defenses or Boros Charm . Destructive Revelry wouldn't be able to destroy the artifact in game two when your opponent is wise to it's presence. They will play and activate on the stack as a 2 mana token wipe.
As a 1 of, I would consider a Congregate to buy more time. As Druid's Deliverance wouldn't take advantage of a full board presence. If playing against an [Erbos, God of the Dead] or Skullcrack , Druid's Deliverance would be stronger.
Any ideas on this list JUNK in the Trunk with Theros out?
Definitely good. I'd been looking for this sort of thing in Bant, but this is how it's done. +1
I feel like you're missing Urban Evolution , does it make things work?
Card draw is something that definitely might be useful.
Since xenagos is the key part of your deck, adding 1 more seems reasonable. +1, great creativity(-:
I'd remove curse of the swine and the chorus of might.
Consider playing Foundry Champion as your finisher.
This is super-cool!
I haven't tried Beck , but honestly, I like the look of it. Same with your suggestion Nyad. I'll definitely add them both to the maybes. As for removing Curse of the Swine , I have to disagree. Take all my little 1/1s (and enemy threats), get rid of them, then get more creatures ETBing to synergize with Purphoros, God of the Forge , coming back more powerful than before!
