Child of Alara: Unassuming Combo Deck

Commander / EDH

TheGeneralAdvisor

Description

I made a combo deck using random pieces in only blue/green, but I realized I wanted to expand it more, so I made it five colors, limited myself to no tutors so nobody knows what's going on, and then randomly I'll just combo out and win. With tons of interactions and different combos, even if someone disrupts a piece or two, I can still just keep jamming cards for days.

The Sac Outlets

Goblin BombardmentBlasting StationPhyrexian AltarCarrion FeederEvolutionary LeapViscera SeerHigh Market

The Infinites

Sun Titan + Fiend Hunter + Any sac outlet: the Titan brings back the hunter, which exiles the Titan, then sacrifice the hunter, which brings back the Titan, which brings back the hunter.

Intruder Alarm + Stonybrook Schoolmaster + tap effect: infinite Merfolk Wizards.

Intruder Alarm + Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker + nonlegendary creature: infinite haste tokens.

Paradox Engine or Jeskai Ascendancy or Intruder Alarm + Sprout Swarm + five creatures: infinite saprolings.

Mikaeus, the Unhallowed + any persist creature + sac outlet: infinite sacrifices, usually for life or damage.

Reveillark + Karmic Guide or Saffi Eriksdotter + sac outlet: infinite recursion.

Renegade Rallier or Sun Titan + Saffi Eriksdotter + sac outlet: infinite recursion.

Pawn of Ulamog + Blood Artist + Reassembling Skeleton + Phyrexian Altar: infinite drain. Skeleton makes the mana from Altar, pawn makes the colorless you need to bring back Skeleton, blood artist hoses everyone down.

I will update with more combos when I have the time.

When things go south, cast and sacrifice Child of Alara. Problems solved!

Right now, despite a lot of card draw in the deck, I could still use more card draw. So any suggestions are welcome if they go along with some of the combos.

Can you list some of the combos?

Your meta?

Goal of the deck?

Profet93: For sure, but it was getting late so I didn't have the time. There is quite a bit. I'll try and make the time tomorrow to list all of them.

As for meta, it probably falls under competitive to semi-competitive. Definitely a lot of artifact decks.

The goal of the deck is to sit there playing stupid things nobody really pays much attention to, and then randomly draw a combo and win! Since there's so many combo pieces, it's hard for opponents to deal with any one thing once the combo pieces are in place, and I get the win. Split second is basically the only downfall to the deck, and Krosan Grip is the only split second played. So they have to have it or they lose.

So, is this just a ton of infinite combos tied together with good cards and Child of Alara? If so, I would add some things like Impulse to help set them up.

Gamerpg04: I was trying specifically to just happen to draw into one, instead of just setting something up to win. This way the deck is more unassuming and I can have a lot of different ways to combo.

Okay, but I still think consistency might be important

I know what you're saying. Consistency is something I look to do in every deck, and that's specifically why I wanted to shy away from it in this deck. Adding in tutors, land grabs, and whatever else eats up slots in a deck, and then basically the deck becomes whatever the most powerful and consistent combo is left in it. Without tutors and the like, the deck becomes straight pieces and I get to just combo when it happens. It also saves me a lot of search time and just lets me jam whatever I have at the time.

I've won without combo as well (thank you Sprout Swarm!), so the deck doesn't end up being terrible without consistency. It's just not something I was looking to do here. I appreciate the suggestion though :)

You know what really grinds my gears....people who say you should not have infinite combos in EDH, because it "ruins the fun". Like the deck +1

Hamster2558: Haha thanks for the upvote. I totally get what you mean. I try and call people out on their saltiness at the shop I frequent. We're all here to try and win and winning is fun for us, so why not support other people's deck ideas instead of shitting on them? I don't necessarily like getting locked out by Deadeye Navigator + Mystic Snake , but that's a totally sweet play to make, and I'll make a point to say that through my tilt.
