Theirs not to make reply, Theirs not to reason why, Theirs but to do and die. Into the valley of Death Rode the six hundred.

Now while this may not be 600 men, it is still a Light Brigade, and they are charging headfirst into the valley of death that is the modern format. That being said, the mentality of this deck is to amass your army as quickly as possible and then use your board advantage combined with some anthem effects to abuse the Battalion mechanic and just run over your opponent. With this strat it is possible to win on turn 4 if you get lucky. Here is how you achieve what I like to call tactical recklessness.

The Men:

  • Akroan Hoplite: This is you main damage source because since you are always going to be attacking with everything you have, you get the maximum value from his ability.
  • Legion Loyalist: The best battalion card ever printed. It's only 1 mana, it comes with haste, and when you get a battalion trigger he makes all of your attackers ridiculously strong.
  • Boros Elite : 1 mana for a creature that gets a really nice battalion buff, I'll take it.
  • Glory-Bound Initiate: This card is great on its own, but when combined with Legion Loyalist, and Always Watching , it will be nearly unstopable.
  • Iroas, God of Victory: Gives everything menace, and makes them indestructible when they attack.
  • Glorybringer: Great synergy with Always Watching , and it is very helpful for nuking down your opponent's field.

Combat Buffs:

  • Boros Charm: The double strike that this card gives is so powerful especially when you combo it with Akroan Hoplite, it is also good protection from a board wipe.
  • Always Watching : Great anthem effect, and it is very good when used in combination with your exert creatures.
  • Temur Battle Rage: The double strike on this card is nice, but since you will almost always be getting the ferocious effect the extra trample is a great help as well.

Words of Wisdom:

The most important thing to remember when playing this deck is that you should always try to keep pressure on your opponent even when you are at a disadvantage. That is because if they aren't put on the back foot immediately then they will have plenty of opportunities to reach the late game which is where this deck is weakest. Other than that the only thing to worry about is any card that can prevent combat damage because that can single-handedly stop all of your burst. As always if you enjoyed your stay then feel free to give one of those +1 upvotes and any suggestions are always welcome.
