Lifegain, it's fun right? Seeing your life total hit 50, 60, 70 while everyone else is scrounging over their finite 40. Yet, lifegain decks always seem to gravitate towards the same, slow, monotonous playstyle.

Well, I mean, before I made this mess.

When you gain life, EVERYONE knows it, they lost all their creatures, a dozen health, maybe both... all while you casually tick your total up another 20 or more. This ain't no war of attrition, this a go for broke, balls to the wall, shoots for the moon deck.

That is actually somewhat reliable.

Ideally played against mid/casual tier decks (this is lifegain in EDH after all).

Once upon a time, I had a Bruse Tarl, Boorish Herder deck and every time I drew Chandra's Ignition in it, the game became ridiculous. I loved it. I loved it so much, I tore the deck apart.

To make this monstrosity.

A dozen ways of burning the world... and a dozen more to profit off it.

Generally the deck slowly builds up to some major catastrophe (stuff like a large Thrashing Wumpus or Arcbond or simply 20/20 Ishai, Ojutai Dragonspeaker ) and then simultaneously tries to also gain life off of it.

By the nature of the deck (lifegain, jank) it is pretty mid-tier, nothing phenomenal, but surprisingly consistent in the jank it does do.

Most games lead to nuking the whole table and/or monstrous amounts of lifegain and/or constantly destroying everything.

There are allot.

---------Core--------

13 cards that deal large amounts of damage from a creature based source. 8 that give lifelink. 1 for deathtouch.

--------other--------

Removal: removal is generally red and damage based. Think Blasphemous Act .

Damage redirection: Mogg Maniac , Arcbond , and friends love Blasphemous Act , Shivan Meteor , exc. They can lead to some hilarious surprise kills and/or total table kills.

Whip of Erebos is an allstar. Most damage is delt through creature based sources. That + Passive constant lifelink = crazy amounts of lifegain. The cherry on top is that you can usually bring back creatures after they blow everything up, for a round two.

Smothering Tithe + Last Laugh . A more specific, but hilarious combo. Had this happen twice last time I played the deck. Smothing Tithe was out with a few treasures then I cast Last Laugh ... popped a treasure to start a chain of death, someone destroyed Last Laugh in response, I popped another treasure to start a new chain.... everyone and everything died but me and I think one other guy who ended up with 7 life.

Fate Transfer . Janky. Fun with Ishai, Ojutai Dragonspeaker . Hilarious with Magmasaur . Throwing 5+ counters from Ishai onto Magmasaur is brutal. Doubly so if you throw on lifelink. For an easy 50->100 life.

Chainer's Torment . Bad card. Hilarious when you have Selfless Squire or Gideon's Sacrifice + Mogg Maniac . Chainer's Torment also deals its damage to you through the demon creature, so giving it lifelink means you don't lose life.

Volcano Hellion . Give him lifelink. Say an arbitrarily large number. Blow up a creature and deal that much dmg to you.... but lifelink life gain happens simultaneously... so you now have all the life. Cheasiest combo in the deck. I personally never say over my current life total. Only added it because of more normal synergy with Mog Maniac and the likes.

There's more, but I feel like you should be getting the gist by now...
