A budget deck based around the interactions of Liquimetal Coating.
All by itself, Liquimetal Coating is a underpowered card at best. It's 2/3 metal craft, but that is about it. But it is so easily taken advantage of.
This deck relies on spot removal to get rid of any threats. And then non-threats. And then, just because, lands. Keeping the board clear of everything so that eventually you can just keep swinging with 2/2s. :D
Typical Game-T1- forest,
Ancient Stirrings
, grab a coating
T2 - land, cast Liquimetal Coating
T3- land, Manic Vandal, destroying a land/creature/whatever
T4- land, Isochron Scepter, imprinting a Naturalize, using Liquimetal Coating and Isochron Scepter to kill something else.
T5- Rinse and repeat until they concede
Turning Things Into Artifacts-
Liquimetal Coating
Myr Landshaper
Destroying These Artifacts-
Manic Vandal
Viashino Heretic
Viridian Corrupter
Shatter
Naturalize
Ancient Grudge
Keeping the destroying going-
Hoard-Smelter Dragon
Isochron Scepter + any of the instants to destroy artifacts again and again
Mimic Vat + the ETB creatures. This makes the opponent let Maniac Vandal go through, as killing it will only destroy more of their precious cards
Destroying opponents lands-
Titania's Song
+ Liquimetal Coating/Myr Landshaper
Liquimetal Coating/Myr Landshaper + Splinter - to be really nasty. Clears an entire deck of a type of land. Wouldn't it be a shame to trash 22 Mountains in a mono red
Key Damage Outputs-
Hoard-Smelter Dragon
- well, he is a dragon. that destroys more and then gets pumped up? aw yeah
Phyrexian Metamorph if they manage to get anything out, or to abuse your own creatures even more
Tutor-
Ancient Stirrings
- is a great tutor for us, as it allows us to grab a Liquimetal Coating turn one, or later on get a Isochron Scepter or Mimic Vat. Also, allows us to grab lands we need it.
Any comments/criticism/help appreciated! Looking for more ways to take advantage of Liquimetal Coating, as well as more ways to make it more consistent. Also need to update the mana base.
