Standard Tourney 3-1 —March 17, 2012

Played my first Standard Tourney on the 17th, went 3-1. Lost to a Rogue Elf Deck, 1-2 with no idea what to do against it. Beat a Delver, Red Deck Wins, and a Red Flare Deck.(not sure on that last one)

I learned that side boarding helps. A Faith's Shield with Fateful hour prevented 6 damage when my life counter was at 5. In return over the next two turns I was able to steal the game. However, it also occurred to me that to pull those kind of miracles is not common and that I have to use more playable cards. Tragic Slip has since replaced those cards. (Although they will always have a special place in my heart)

I have a lot to learn about the cards that currently exist in Standard, but for my first 3 weeks playing I've had a chance to learn and to have fun. Can't wait for next Saturday!

Thanks! It's something that I am highly considering. To be honest, its like you read my mind, I'm going to be playing some serious magic today (like 10 hours) and will be subbing that in and out as the day goes along.

How do you feel about Grand Abolisher in there as a two of. (Either to replace Mirran or Inquisitor) and adding Faith's Shield either to the MB or SB?

i would throw the sheild in side board for sure and for the abolisher, i would first play the first game to see how your opoinent plays and then if they are using a lot of instants on your turn or if they dont play zombies, werewolves or vampires, then trade out the abloishers for the inquisitors but other than that i say the deck is good as is, and may not even need the abolishers, if you want you can look at my black white version of this called deck:blackwhite-sorin
