So with BW Tokens being a popular topic right now, I thought I'd put some new ideas for the archetype out there. I've been playtesting those ideas, particularly against Tokens' bad matchups (Burn, Tron, etc.). So here's the stuff that turned out well:

  1. Planeswalkers out - I got rid of Elspeth, Knight-Errant. She's slow and doesn't improve the worst matchups as a result. I'd rather use Hero of Bladehold as a finisher in games 2 and 3, where hopefully my opponent has pulled some removal from his or her deck.

  2. Dismember out - I just don't think this card works that well in tokens. A lot of the creatures I'd use it on can be chump-blocked, so it's cost rarely seems worth it. I replaced it with Bone Splinters (Tragic Slip wasn't bad either). Basically, Bone Splinters was better against Burn, better against Tron (Wurmcoil Engine), and about as good as Dismember in a lot of situations.

  3. Foul-Tongue Shriek in. This card is an absolute bomb in this deck. It flat-out won a number of games. It consistently helps this deck win a turn earlier and/or survive a turn further, for one mana. It also added some unpredictability to a relatively predictable deck. It forces opponents to think twice about when to use counters, what to use hand disruption on, etc.. I think that factor alone makes it worth considering as at least a 2-of in BW Token decks.

  4. Gather the Townsfolk/Timely Reinforcements in. A lot of good BW Token decks don't play these cards, or play very few. I decided I liked more consistently having a 2-drop token maker, so in came Gather the Townsfolk. That consistency makes Bone Splinters and Foul-Tongue Shriek better, and I think eliminates the usefulness of permanent token producing cards like Elspeth or Bitterblossom. It's also noteworthy that it can be an excellent late-game spell, so it's not dead-in-hand after turn 2 or 3. I think some of the logic of Gather the Townsfolk and Foul-Tongue Shriek applies to Timely Reinforcements, but I'm still working out which matchups to play it in.

  5. Brave the Elements in sideboard. Right now, I'm playtesting this against Tron to hose Pyroclasm. It also may be useful against a few other decks where it can make my guys unblockable.
