Sideboard

Maybeboard

So this is my first try at making a token based black white vampire deck and try to go wide and then pump up all my tokens to take opps out quick. I believe it is pretty consistent already but I am trying to find ways to help in some of my troublesome match ups like major control decks running tons of board wipes mainly.

Any suggestions that people could give would really help because I plan to run this deck in an upcoming large standard tournament and I really like the way this deck is already running.

My current side boarding plans are as follows

RG Monsters

-2 Ixalan's Binding

+1 Fatal Push

+1 Vraska's Contempt

I feel in this match up Ixalan’s Binding is just too slow, and by the time it hits the table most of my opponents big threats will already be swinging at me to end the game. I feel like hitting the 2-4 drop slot creatures that break my deck is key and even though keeping the thopter arrests in leaves me vulnerable to thrashing brontodon they are needed to try to keep phoenixes off the table.

Second Sun Control

-3 Thopter Arrest

-2 Fatal Push

-2 Ixalan's Binding

-1 Champion of Dusk

+2 Fragmentize

+2 Lost Legacy

+3 Duress

+1 Arguel's Blood Fast

This game is all about hitting our removal resistant creatures and hate cards. It will be a very grindy game but I feel as long as we keep get lost legacy or a duress to hit second sun we stand a good shot.

Hazoret Red

-2 Champion of Dusk

-4 Legion Lieutenant

+1 Fatal Push

+1 Vraska's Contempt

+3 Yahenni's Expertise

+1 Profane Procession

This match is all about trying to remove our opponent’s threats and keep ourselves at a decent life total. We remove the lieutenants here because they are too fragile and normally just draw removal as soon as they hit the table.

Token Decks

-2 Fatal Push

-3 Thopter Arrest

+2 Fragmentize

+3 Yahenni's Expertise

This game is all about keeping our opps enchantments off the table and hitting as many threats our opps play as possible in one turn. It is a very winnable match up and one I feel like we are favored in.

Constrictor

I really don’t know much about how to sideboard for this match up at the moment and would like some advice here.

Drake Haven

-3 Thopter Arrest

-2 Fatal Push

-2 Champion of Dusk

-1 Legion Lieutenant

+2 Fragmentize

+3 Duress

+3 Yahenni's Expertise

This match is about trying to get rid of their drake havens and board wipes while possible.

I think this pretty much covers most decks if you can give advise or info on other decks leave me a comment

Updates Add

After some considerations I have decided to make some changes and see how the deck feels.

1 The maindeck

-4 Queen's Commission

-4 Call to the Feast

-1 Profane Procession  Flip

-2 Evolving Wilds

+4 Adanto Vanguard

+4 Gifted Aetherborn

+1 Thopter Arrest

+2 Swamp

All of these changes are made to help with certain match ups.

The vanguards are incredibly powerful early drops that just get better and better the more anthems get dropped on the table and they survive fumigates. This is also why I decided to leave in the 3 of martyr and 3 of legion’s landings. Both those cards improve my odds vs control match ups.

The Aetherborns are really nice in there for Aggro match ups because it’s bigger chunks of life gained and more defensive.

The extra thopter arrest helps vs many of the threats that have to be dealt with for this deck and hit almost everything that this deck wants to hit. That is why I am putting it in here as a much more versatile and effective card than profane procession.

And the land change came because I knew that with the aetherborns I am heavier black and 8 etb rapped lands was just too many even though it lowers my odds of fatal push hitting 4 drops.

2 The sideboard

After playing some matchups I realized most sideboard the decks that gave me some trouble were the go wide token decks. So with that said I’m trying to decide between which of 2 cards to add in to the deck.

I know I am going to

-1 Duress

-1 Twilight Prophet

-1 Fragmentize

+3 Golden Demise or Yahenni's Expertise

Both of these cards seem very strong in their own right. The golden demise can be a 1 sided board wipe but is weaker in a mirror match where there are many pump effects happening, and the expertise will hit most of my guys but will also allow me to get to play a “free” spell most of the time, which is insanely good in matches where i go gifted aether born into radiant destiny.

So let me know what you think and hopefully I can get some good feed back before my scg tournament.
