Burn'em All, Master of Purphoros! (Izzet Devotion)

Standard Devotion Tokens U/R (Izzet)

LeoSperandio Score: 3

Description

Master of Waves + Purphoros, God of the Forge =

This is my Izzet Devotion!!!

The key is cast a Master of Waves after Purphoros, with some devotion. We have other cards to make tokens, like Molten Birth, Young Pyromancer, but the Master is more effective.

Master of Waves can help to strengthen Nivmagus Elemental and tokens of Young Pyromancer also.

The rest of the deck is only counter, burn and cards with good devotion.

The perfect hand is something like:

1st Turn - Nivmagus Elemental >> 2nd Turn - Frostburn Weird >>3rd Turn - Frostburn Weird / Hammer of Purphoros >> 4th Turn - Purphoros >> 5th Turn - Master of Waves

Is very common this happen, because we have some cards with scry!

I hope you like it! =D

Any advice is welcome!

Thank you!!

ps.: This deck was built by salibian and me! =D

Fire horses when entering the battlefield...Water horses after that, Wind horses if their master die, but hitting like Rocks whenever they attack!!! YEAH!!! plus 1 for me for what I just did right now! ha ha

I suggest you to reduce 2 of your Purphoros, God of the Forge for 2 more removal/counter, since you have Thassa, Omenspeaker and Magma Jet to find one of yours red gods. I really think 4 is too much.

+1!

+1 for you hahah

Thanks for your suggestion Arcanis86. Maybe you can be right!!

I'll try to take off one by one, gradually. In this case, I don't know if is better include +1 (or 2) removal, counter or creature that have some devotion. For now, I'm thinking about Nivix Cyclops (or Spellheart Chimera , but normally I don't have so much spells in the graveyard).

What you think???

Ok I built a similar deck to this except it had white in it. I thought of the izzet idea and do like it, but there are a few changes you can make. I would remove Nivmagus Elemental I know it is a 1/2 that you can play always turn 1, but i feel that more blue would be better for more master wrecking. Perhaps consider adding Tidebinder Mage . Also what makes blue super powerful is thassa AS WELL AS the draw function blue has access too. I would add a Bident of Thassa over the hammer. More devotion as well as draw to get what you need. Sure haste is nice, but the main damage is the purphoros+ master. Also it is 2 more devotion for your master. You can go 1-1 of each if you want so you still have haste, this seems like another possibility, but 2 hammers is 1 too many. Another thing is I would remove Swan Song It is good in thought, but not good in actuality. You do not need many counter spells. So what if someone kills your master, you got purphoros, your main thing is putting out the hurt, not making the tokens swing, that is an added bonus. Remove the 2 counter spells that you have 1 of and add 2 more Thassa, God of the Sea all blue decks run 4. And she is just THAT GOOD! if thassa is on the feild you will not draw another one (most likely) because you can scry it to the bottom. Also making a 5/5 unblockable is pretty beast as well. So go +2 thassa -1 hammer -1 swan song -1 syncopate -4 niv +4 tidebinder +1 bidet. Just my suggestions to make the deck flow better. And on a final note I will tell you what a few pros told me. What makes a deck GREAT is a few things, and in this orderhatecard drawlifegainThat is why black is so strong. I feel though all you need to win is speed and I think with the card draw and 4 thassa you will go through your deck faster than your opponents and youll get what you need in order to win. Hope this helps.

drewmighty Thank you for your suggestion! I really appreciated!

In your opinion, the deck flows better if I have a MonoBlue deck splashing to red, only to use Purphoros (and some burns). I'm right? Maybe can be a better strategy. My first idea, was have red devotion also to turn Purphoros in a creature.

Hammer isn't useful only to Haste. The main function is creating tokens "uncounterable" in the case of Master of Waves be canceled or the opponent gain life and the Master don't be enough. Swan Song is for "desperate times" haha But I can take it off. Bident seems a little bit slow, but certainly have a powerful (and synergic) effect. I'll include 1 or 2-of to test.

In the case of Nivmagus, I like it because is a 1/2 like you said (can give me a good defense in turn 1) and it's a Elemental also... it gains Master's pump (like Young Pyromancer's tokens too).

I'll make some changes based on your comment. Please, tell me if you think it's better now!! Thank you!

I would take out x2 Purphoros, God of the Forge , x2 Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx as them being legendary its awkard to draw into more then one. Replace Nivmagus Elemental with Lightning Strike or maybe Searing Blood , as it doesn't seem you have enough spells to trigger Young Pyromancer and exiling them to Nivmagus Elemental doesn't really accomplish alot.Although, I really like the idea of this deck, its very clever! Keep up the good work!
