I started playing in 4th edition. My first real deck was a burn deck.

At the time, they only sold two things for a set, a starter deck and a pack. The starter deck was the only way to get lands. It contained 5 of each land and about 3 packs worth of cards. It was not really a usable deck. I didn't have much money so me and my friends just traded around cards until we settled on some colors and effects that we liked.

Lightning bolt was a serious thing then. Plus you had fireball and disintegrate. It wasn't hard to pull together a deck that basically looked at the entire board as target practice. AND I LOVED IT! Each new expansion after 4th brought me a new X spell or bolt like spell. Pretty soon it was all urza lands, mountains and burn. It won often enough, but more importantly it was darn fun.

I'm building this deck as a homage to that wonderful first deck of mine. I want everything on the board to look like target practice to me. And I want to boldly play those mountains without a secondary color trying to upstage them.
