This is a budget Izzet Control deck and is missing most of the expensive staples such as Torrential Gearhulks, Disallows, and land such as Spirebluff Canal, Aether Hub, and Wandering Fumarole. Despite that, it still works suprisingly well for a budget deck . The Gameplan: Control the board with removal and counter spells and fuel your hand with draw spells until you can bash your opponents face in with an Awoken Horror or Combustible Gearhulk. Alternatively, you could simply zap them to dust over time with a Dynavolt Tower.

                    --Control Aspects--

Counter Spells: Essence Scatter and Negate are both very good two manna counters that can almost always find a target. Censor is an amazing counter spell that I should get more of, as it's almost a two mana hard counter early game and can easily be cycled away late game. Void Shatter is a nice three manna hard counter due to the exiling effect, getting rid of pesky embalmers, reanimaters, and Scrapheap Scroungers. Commit / Memory can be used as an expensive counter if need be, but also doubles as good removal. Removal: Harnessed Lightning is one of the best burn spells on the market, comboing with glimmer of genious and Dynavolt Tower for an easy 5 or more damage. Magma Spray is better than Shock in my opinion, as while Shock has more versatility, exiling creatures is simply better than killing them. Sweltering Suns is an all around good card, giving each creature a nice amount of burn, not killing any of your creautres, and you can cycle it away if it's useless. Dynavolt Tower is always up to provide a nice amount of heat to a creature while feeding off of your spells, being able to face burn someone, and fueling harnessed lighting. Commit / Memory was already covered, it can get rid of any planeswalker or artifact that may have slipped by when you were low on counter spells or manna. Fuel: glimmer of genious is an amazing card draw, letting dig through 4 cards in your deck if you desperately need a counter spell, and otherwise letting you control what you draw and fueling Harnessed Lightning and Dynavolt Tower Heiroglyphic Illumination is a pretty good card, giving you a draw two while letting you cycle if you need to.

                      --Face Bashers--

Thing in the Ice   is a pretty good card, and my budget alternative to Torrential Gearhulk. Functioning as a good early blocker, it's the pros sideboard card turned mainboard. Late game, it can flip to an Awoken Horror and become a real big threat. Our other basher is Combustible Gearhulk, which, I know, I know, isn't a popular pick for control. But I've playtested it and he can normally do 4-6 damage if they choose to graveyard, otherwise he draws you three cards. Even if he doesn't burn a lot, he works as a nice body to block or, if the board is clear, attack and hopefully win.

                    --Sideboard--

By Force is for Mardu Vehicles mainly, now that Aetherworks Marvel was banned, which is good. :D Another Commit / Memory just incase you need it. Dispel against decks who hard cast Ulamog, which my one of my friend's Simic Ramp does. Two more Dynavolt Towers if games go really long, such as mirror control possibly. Enigma Drake can be a replacement basher for Combustible Gearhulk, or come in as flying defense if need be. Another Essence Scatter and Negate for creature haeavy or light decks. Three Insult // Injury for both extra burn or double bashing with your creatures if you need to Two Soul-Scar Mage against decks with indistrucitble creatures such as Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger or the Amonkhet gods. Two Sphinx of the Final Word for control mirror matches, in which they are game enders.

                    --Wishlist/Aquire board--

I'm slowly but surely buying the more expensive cards for this deck, here's the list: 4x Torrential Gearhulk 4x Spirelbluff Canal 4x AetherHub 4x Wandering Fumarole 4x Disallow Total Price: too much for my poor self xD
