Virulent Wound is better than Wring Flesh . A permanent counter hurts more than -3/-1 one time. Whether or not your trying to win by poison.
Most of the time you're probably right. In my particular local meta, I see a lot of Phyrexian Crusader , in which case Wring Flesh is better because it allows me to profitably block with Snapcaster Mage .
I like this... ever considered doing a variant for the current standard? I'm trying to do it atm

BUG Control

This deck borrows heavily from Frank Lepore's BUG control deck. I took out the big drops of Consecrated Sphinx and Karn Liberated , as well as one land to put in three moderately costed Mayor of Avabruck Flip Flip
. I like the Mayor much better because he has better synergy in the deck than the control cards, he is easy to put down, he boosts the Snapcaster Mage
s and you end up passing the turn a LOT with this deck, so he's easy to flip, forcing them to respond. Go for the Throat
and many of the sideboard cards are concessions for my local meta, so those can easily be changed around.
