Budget Jarad, about 20 dollars

Commander / EDH*

Commander (1)

Commander: foil Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord

Sorcery (2)

Enchantment (2)

Budget, new player friendly, Jarad the Lich Lord.

Basic tactic is to fill graveyard with creatures, most notably by either cycling them, or using their enter-the-battlefield effect, and then sacrificing them (by using Jarad's ability, for example). With a filled graveyard, cards like Boneyard Wurm, Revenant and Nighthowler shines. These big creatures can also be sacked by Jarad, to deal large chunks of damage to all opponents at once. Cards like Strength from the Fallen and Wreath of Geists further thrives on a stocked graveyard, and makes for nice surprise wins when each opponent loses about 30 or so lives in one go. There's quite a few enchantment creatures to trigger Strength from the Fallen several times over a game.

As a backup strategy, Jarad himself can do massive commander-damage, supported by cards like the Chariot of Victory to give him trample, alternatively cards like Noble Quarry and Rouge's Passage to become unblockable.

The deck holds a massive count of creatures, more than half of the cards in the deck are creatures, just to maximize on any effects that let's me put cards directly into my graveyard. Many creatures have specific roles, Acidic Slime to destroy a land, a Agent of Erebos to remove a graveyard, etc. Skullwinder and other cards helps pick up these cards several times from the graveyard, if needed.

The deck is designed to be a fair deck, and includes a little bit of everything, without being over the top on anything. No time consuming (and frankly cowardly) tutors and no infinite combos, the reason being that the deck is supposed to be fun to play with and against. I tried to include only a limited selection of keywords. The deck is quite new-player friendly, with most cards only having a few lines of text and straightforward interactions. Again, the reason being to be a fun, casual and nice deck to play, and play against.

The biggest weaknesses to the deck is of course any kind of graveyard hate. But even if hit once or twice, the deck has plenty of cards re-filling the graveyard, so it could still stick around.

No cards with awful art is included, no matter how strong the card is. Also, virtually no cards over a single dollar, and the entire deck lingering around the 25 dollar mark, sometimes a bit over, sometimes under, depending on fluctuations in individual card prices.

Any suggestions are welcome, but keep it within budget, please.
