My first attempt at a Modern deck. I'm a budget player, so I figured since I couldn't afford fetches or shocks, I'd just go mono-color. Thus, this deck was born.
Some notes regarding some card choices:
--Jace's Phantasm: the first serves as a decent 1-drop, if a little underwhelming sometimes, but if your opponent is playing lots of fetches, it shouldn't be too difficult to get it up and running.
--Thought Scour: Honestly, I just run this since it's instant-speed card draw that also fuels Jace's Phantasm a little bit. You may prefer a different cantrip, and that's cool. It's definitely one of my shakier choices in the deck list I'll admit, but I'll still stand by it.
--Illusionary Servant: Not gonna lie, I forgot this was in here. I meant to replace it with a Gut Shot, but apparently I forgot to. Oh well. In a pinch, it does work well as an early flier, though Illusory Angel is arguably better.
--Gut Shot: A weird choice, but one of my favorites. It lets you get rid of an X/1 even when your lands are tapped, and sometimes 1 damage is all you need is 1 damage to kill a planeswalker or a player. To top it off, it fuels Illusory Angel which is always nice.
--Vision Skeins: I'm a horrible sideboarder, and this is evidence of that. That said, if you want to try out some weird tech against Lantern, try this. Drawing two cards once or twice in the same turn can really let your creatures through, though you obviously have to make sure you actually have that many cards left in your library.
