Description

QUICK NOTE- YOU DO NOT HAVE TO RUN Rampaging Ferocidon!! REPLACE THEM WITH ALMOST ANY DINOS IF IT'S NOT IN YOUR BUDGET

do you like dinosaurs? do you like aggro? do you like not spending 200 dollars for a deck that will rotate in 6 months? well, have i got a treat for you

this bad boy usually snags wins on turn 5, but can play mid game well with the constant supply of threats

i've had a really fun time with it, and it's surprisingly competitive

its 30 dollars so thats good

as mentioned below abrade has more flexibility but it would put the deck out of my price range, feel free to add it :)

i dont really have a sideboard figured out, please help me by posting suggestions down below

thanks for reading!

cut 2x Priest of the Wakening Sun, 1x Otepec Huntmaster, 1x Lightning Strike for 2x Cast Out and 2x Rampaging Ferocidon

working on sideboard tonight, more help would be appreciated :)

Take out thrash of raptors for Bonded Horncrest, it curves nice with charging monstrosaur and it survjves Abrade and lighting strike. Losing trample is fine, and the downside isnt much of a downside.

Also I would change the lighting strikes to Abrade for more versatility, and it can kill gearhulks

Also I would take out priest of the wakening sun and add Rampaging Ferocidon, life gain isn't important since you're an midgrange deck. It also helps get it for some extra damage witch can be the deciding factor in a game.

A bit out of my price range, but noted.

For side deck or main board you may want to consider Ixalan's Binding as a strong removal option that denies your opponent the ability to play copies of cards; or Cast Out for instant speed removal that can be cycled when you don't feel it needed in an early draw. You also may want to consider for the side deck Demystify as an answer for the the two suggested enchantments.

Another good option for the side deck is Tocatli Honor Guard. Since you do not use any enter battlefield triggers on you creatures it can be a good side option vs a variety of decks (gearhulks, most energy creatures, Hostage Taker, and many other important effects).

A card that might be a decent sideboard option would be Wakening Sun's Avatar. As it destroys all non-dino cards, that means you will only have to worry about it destroying your mana reducers, but at that point in game that should not be an issue. Only concern with this card is its mana cost.

I also think that Rampaging Ferocidon would be a good card for the deck and you don not need to run it as a 4 of so the 3 dollar price tag on them seem friendly enough for a budget. I would suggest getting at least 2 copies of the card if at least for the side-deck, because it will punish agro decks and creature token decks.

thanks for your suggestions!

ill add those to the sideboard tonight.

if I were to add Cast Out or Ixalan's Binding to MB, what would I take out?

Personally I don't think Priest of the Wakening Sun is that good for your build style. He is better for slower decks and searching out the big bomb dinos which you are not running. Other then that maybe trim a copy or 2 from the mana reducers. Not sure what you prefer to give up at that point.

Yeah I thought Priest of the Wakening Sun would be doing more work than it actually is. I'll cut them.

So, has anyone played any more with this one? I bought some Ixalan sealed product, as well as the singles to build something like this last night, and was wondering if any of you had any more experience with it. I love the idea of a super budget Standard deck that I can build on in the future. Lastly, as a new player, I don't understand the purpose of the Bomat Couriers. Thanks for what looks like a fun list!

Thanks for your comment!

I added Bomat Courier because you tend to run out of cards pretty fast with this deck, and if played on t1-t2 you can easily refill your hand by the time you run out of cards. Not necessary by any means though :)

I have been browsing this website, and I do appreciate this budget deck! I am pretty new to the game, and i decided to run an aggro dino deck. My deck is a rebuilt pre-built Huatli, Dino Knight Planeswalker deck. Seeing this deck gives me a broader view about cards and ideas to how to build my deck stronger. I want my deck to also incorporate the mechanic of trample alongside aggro, dealing as much damage as possible.

I've been playing this deck casually with my friends and it's one of our favorites! I'm really excited to update this with what has been spoiled so far with Rivals of Ixalan
