I hate burn. I hate mono red burn even more; it has non-interactive gameplay and linear lines of play, so I strove to make a burn deck that took a lot of thought and one which could host interesting play patterns.

The deck looks to combo off by pairing Quest for Pure Flame and/or The Flame of Keld with a thermo alchemist and high damage burn spells. The Flame of Keld and Bomat Courier both help the deck draw some cards to help fill up your hand for the important combo turn.

Key Cards: Kari Zev's Expertise: The card seems very underpowered, but can actually swing a game in your favor, and often times against another creature deck can help steal a win. Not only does it allow you to empty your hand faster to draw with Bomat Courier and The Flame of Keld, but it also allows you to cast a second instant/sorcery, triggering Thermo-Alchemist again. Thermo-Alchemist: Thermo-Alchemist is an amazing card in the deck. If you want a more competitive version for older formats, you can swap it out for Electro-Static Field; it has 4 toughness, but lacks the ability to activate without an instant/sorcery. Despite this, Thermo-Alchemist can do crazy amounts of damage throughout the course of a game while being able to consistently add counters to Quest for Pure Flame. Flame Rift: Flame Rift is an amazing card if you are not against another burn deck. It deals 4 damage for a small 2 mana, and against multiple opponents can add multiple counters to Quest for Pure Flame. On top of this, it receives the largest damage boost from Quest for Pure Flame. Finally, it can also end games that you can't win in a tie.

Like many of my other budget decks, it has room for improvement. Playing with this deck for a year now, it has proven to be a very fun burn deck, with different ways to kill you opponent, many different win-conditions and interesting decisions that can be made throughout the course of a game. I highly recommend trying out this cool budget build.
