Maybeboard

My attempt at a budget Brudiclad, Telchor Engineer deck. The goal is this deck is to be able to take on the high powered decks of my local LGS, but still be cheap. I allowed myself 2 cards over $5 and 5 cards over $2 (TCGplayer pricing).

-- So it has come to my attention that a number of the cards that were less than $2 when I originally built this deck have crept up above $2. Therefore this is now just a normal budget deck. I don't want to have to keep track of prices and continuously switch cards in and out. --

The deck plays like a slow fuse, methodically setting up for an explosive win. The early game focus is to ramp and fill the board with a number of nonthreatening tokens. The preferred token type is either clues or treasure as these can help advance this decks game plan, won't alarm opponents, and are resistant to most board wipes. Once the board is set up, drop any of Nevermaker , Bane of Bala Ged , Frost Titan , Borderland Behemoth , Combat Celebrant , or Sharding Sphinx . Next create a clone token of the win-con and play Brudiclad (or hopefully he is already on the battlefield). After that just swing out and win.

Obviously our opponents will likely see the alpha strike coming from a mile away. In response I have focused on making this list more of a control deck with cheap token makers that play into the spellslinger strategy. Most of the counterspells in here are cheap (both financially and in CMC) and are geared towards stopping any disruption to the game plan.

Thanks for taking a look and please +1 if you like the deck. Budget suggestions for improvement are very much appreciated.

Updates Add

I made some more changes to the deck and updated the deck description.

I have brought in Twinflame and Zndrsplt's Judgment for Saheeli's Artistry and Everflowing Chalice - Both of these are more mana efficient token producers than the Artistry, and the Chalice was probably the worst ramp spell in the deck.

Docent of Perfection  Flip and Borderland Behemoth have replaced Magnifying Glass and Inferno Titan - My ramp package is still substantial without Magnifying Glass and the Docent is a more synergistic token maker with this deck. Borderland Behemoth's upside is just so much higher than Inferno Titan.

Trail of Evidence has replaced Mirror March - 6 mana do nothing spells aren't that great. While Mirror March's ceiling is extraordinary, its floor is terrible. Trail of Evidence comes out much earlier, is more reliable, and provides card advantage in a pinch.

Invert / Invent has replaced Hour of Need - Hour just isn't very good. Invent will be the primarily used mode of this card and it is a welcome tutor for a deck that isn't able to run many. I really like that I can go find a card like Rite of Replication and counter magic to protect my win-con at the same time.
