Description

Brown Magic is the magic of industry. The primary power lies in efficiency and rhythm. There is no flashy show of power or surprises. Instead, there is a steady and stable build of resources while remaining strong against early aggressive strategies. The aim is to gain a commanding lead and to maintain it to the end of the match.

This is an Old School Magic colorless artifact deck.

Strategy

The deck ramps through Urza lands and artifact mana. The deck then uses a combination of efficiently costed artifact creatures and control synergies to keep the advantage through the game. The deck finishes with a use of massed mana for either a large creature beatdown or direct damage. The deck's main weakness is a lack of response against specific combos, instead aiming to out-ramp a combo deck.

Tactics

Mana Ramp

• Urza's Mine + Urza's Power Plant + Urza's Tower: This is the primary mana ramp that will result in massed late game mana. Excess mana can be stored in a Basalt Monolith.

Efficiencies

• Brass Man or Yotian Soldier: These efficiently costed creatures are efficient blockers in the early game to allow early aggression and prevent early aggression from the opponent.
• Onulet or Su-Chi: These creatures allow allow for an efficient trade by giving value upon death.

Finishers

• Rocket Launcher: This artifact the use of massed mana as a finisher or to clear opposition for an attack.
• Colossus of Sardia: This is the large creature beatdown option.
• Dragon Engine: This is the option that uses creature and mana for a decisive beatdown.

Synergies

• Disrupting Scepter + Jayemdae Tome : This combination continues to increase card advantage over time.
• Mishra's Factory + Nevinyrral's Disk : This combination allows uncontested attacks with the Mishra's Factory after the Nevinyrral's Disk clears the board.
• Dragon Mask + Tetravus : This combination returns Tetravus to be recast so as to reset the +1/+1 counters.
• Dragon Mask + Triskelion : This combination returns Triskelion to be recast so as to reset the +1/+1 counters.
