Combo Control

Control Piloting Tips for Breya

CONTROL 101: There are the general rules for control:

1) Build mana when you have cards, draw cards when you have mana.

2) Attack their mana when they have cards, attack their cards when they have mana.

3) Ignore their threat when you can, nullify it when you're able, counter it when you have to.

4) Don't tap out unless you have a way to recover from the consequences.

5) Tap out if the play you are making is something they may not recover from.

6) Try to use as much mana between your untap phases as you can. Most games are won by the person who spent the most mana.

7) The purpose of card drawing is to find more mana and things to spend mana on.

8) Your life total is a resource. It's OK to take hits to generate card advantage later, but if you die with those cards in hand, then you're not actually generating anything.

9) Are you in the aggro role or the control role? Ask and answer this question every turn because the role will change. Play aggressively or defensively as appropriate.

10) Give your opponent maximum opportunity to throw the game away; never assume you've lost. And don't give them the same courtesy by making "win more" plays that unnecessarily put your victory at risk.
