Head to Head against Breya — July 18, 2017

My friend came over who built out his Breya deck with infinite combo's and hard lock combos so I thought, let's do a Breya v Breya match until our third person shows up. I won because he conceded. Ending life totals 38 to 18 when he conceded due to me basically having a lock on the board. Unfortunately I do not recall how the match went. He made use of his commander to hit me for 3 once, Kuldotha Forgemaster triggered about 4 times, and Darksteel Forge was on the field. The Forge pretty much prevented me from attacking him since he had Thopters out but was useless at stopping my Breya, Etherium Shaper -4/-4 ability from taking out his commander several times.

My primary moves consisted of casting Reckless Fireweaver early on, followed by Gonti's Aether Heart, Expedition Map, and finally Breya herself coming out on turn 6. I cracked the Heart for the extra turn and put out Contraband Kingpin and Hope of Ghirapur. I then brought Herald of Anguish out, sac'd a few items to Breya (including herself) to remove his commander and another threat. Herald of Anguish was highly effective and an excellent partner to Breya. He forced my opponent to discard his win combo that would have locked his win. Brought my commander back out just before he put Memnarch on the field. I answered by stealing it using Shrewd Negotiation giving him a tapped Seat of the Synod. He then destroyed Memnarch and I casted Saheeli's Artistry copying Reckless Fireweaver and Breya, sac'd off my card-commander. Used Breya and Herald to kill off Kuldotha Forgemaster, and then he conceded.
