The Misadventures of Breya

Commander / EDH*

Breya, Etherium Shaper

Thanks for taking the time to check out my Breya deck!

This is one of my favourite on-going deck-building projects and is one of my top two most played decks alongside my Norin deck: "He who fights and runs away..."

This is a deck that I have worked on for quite a while now, and keep tinkering with on a regular basis. I've tried to keep a running log of all the major changes and my reasoning behind them, which can be viewed in the comments.

I'm pretty happy with the current state of the deck, and so will be writing a more in-depth article in the near future.

Having played around a lot with the cards mentioned in the previous comment, I began thinking a lot about the direction I want this deck to go. It was already holding multiple infinite finishers, however the rest of the deck didn't support any of these.

I've decided to take out some of the cards that were diluting the end game, and have listed the cards that were taken out below.

Hangarback Walker - Rarely ever ticked up, and doesn't help me reach end game. Might need to bring back if I need blockers

Soul of New Phyrexia - A big mana investment. Usually just sits in my hand

Blinkmoth Urn - Love this card, but have decided to try lower cost ramp

Chief Engineer - Again, love this card but early game I'm casting mana rocks now instead of creatures

Commander's Sphere - Turn 3 onward is for combo pieces if possible. Trying to keep ramp below 2 cmc

Darksteel Ingot - See above

Hanna, Ship's Navigator - A bit slow

Smuggler's Copter - Less ways to crew, and more tutors. Not sure I need it anymore

Cranial Plating - The deck wins through combos or Blightsteel Colossus, combat damage isn't the plan

Master of Etherium - See above

Steel Overseer - See above

Swiftfoot Boots - Replaced with Lightning Greaves

Deadeye Navigator - The only ETB was Breya. Wasn't abusing how broken this card is

Dictate of Erebos - Sacrificing creatures doesn't finish the game

Reckless Fireweaver - Didn't find myself casting this very often

Phyrexian Rebirth - The deck has a few boardwipes already, and spot removal deals with most threats

Steel Hellkite - See above

Sharuum the Hegemon - This was a combo with Phyrexian Metamorph and Disciple of the Vault / Reckless Fireweaver. As they are now out, the combo is broken

Daretti, Ingenious Iconoclast - I didn't like this as removal, and rarely use the tokens

That's 20 cards out! I've also cut some lands - the new deck is a lot lower average cmc.
