Brave Folk of Seasons Past

Standard GWU (Bant)

Sideboard

This deck uses my favorite soon-gone cards. Comment below on cards you'll miss.

Innistrad rotates, but will not go gentle into that good night.

The cards and heroes of Seasons Past will soon be forgotten. The men and women of Innistrad, who successfully fought to ban Emrakul from their lands, will themselves succumb at last to the monster of Standard Rotation. They never truly got their moment of glory though, as no sooner had Emrakul left, the marvels of Kaladesh and robots of Saheeli took over. And when they were finally tamed, we moved on to the fertile valley of the Luxa.

Now many are eager to move on to fanciful tales of pirates and dinosaurs, but let us recall one last time the great Tireless Tracker's journey through the Weirding Wood to understand Ulvenwald Mysteries . The s in search of clues. Avacyn's Angelic Purge , trying to purify the world of the Spaghetti Monster's influence. Thalia leading her army with Sigarda and the Heron's Grace Champion to take down Brisela. And then when Emrakul finally arrived, to overwhelm everyone and the gatewatch, Tamiyo, Field Researcher was made to use her journal to win the fight, by getting Old Noodly Imprisoned in the Moon.

Let's give these cards one last moment of glory before tales of pirates and dinosaurs and hidden treasures leave them forever forgotten.

Playing this

Oh, and this is actually a pretty good deck. It is possible to get very aggressive, but usually the creatures will be used with removal and life gain to stall the game to go long. In the late game, Mysteries will generate a horde of human soldiers to protect you, Tamiyo and Nissa will also be your defense, and then Tamiyo's Journal will transform your deck into a reusable toolbox for pinpoint answers to every problem out there. And Seasons Past will reuse all those singletons over and over (Journal refetching Seasons Past). Eventually this will run most decks out of resources. Then you finally Journal-sac clues to make Mysteries soldiers (ideally find 2x Mysteries for 6 soldiers at a time), search up a pumper, ( Thalia's Lieutenant , Nissa, and Heron's Grace Champion ) and swing for lethal.

Do not go gentle into that good night,
    Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
           - Dylan Thomas
