Multiplayer EDH deck with Grixis Legend Admiral Beckett Brass at the helm.

Join the Coalition! Pirates, treasure, and high-seas adventure! We'll plunder our foes battlefield and graveyard for bodies, and sail away with our chests overflowing with treasure.

This deck could lean a little more towards pirate tribal (with more tribal effects and pirates), or artifacts (with more artifact token makers and artifacts-matter effects), or a theft/clone theme (with more theft spells), and would probably be more competitive. But, this one is pretty fun as is.

March 2018: While this deck set out to be somewhat like a Commander series precon, testing out several different directions that Admiral Brass could go, the pirate tribal theme hasn't proven particularly effective. We'll look to upgrade our ability to make artifacts and steal/clone things instead. On the roster to walk the plank are:
1. Captain Lannery Storm. Initially here as a treasure making pirate, her ability to make a treasure often causes her to lose her life.
2. Deadeye Brawler. His wages are costly compared with his payoff; there are cheaper options that accomplish much of the same. Replacing with Evil Twin, so we can plunder identities.
3. Dire Fleet Neckbreaker. Not very often has this tribal boost proven worthwhile; instead we land an expensive body without interactive abilities. Instead, Kess, dissident mage will allow us to reuse spells like Hijack and Spell Swindle , as well as provide us with a reasonable blocker.
4. Dire Fleet Poisoner. Flash and Deathtouch are both relevant, on an otherwise efficient body. May be worth saving as a rattlesnake, but a card like Reckless Fireweaver seems like it'll do more work.
5. Dire Fleet Ravager. 4/4 for 5, with Menace and Deathtouch is nice. But, the body loses utility because of having to consider the political and/or counter-attack implications after losing 1/3 of your own life. Especially in a deck where we're not running a ton of lifegain. Instead, we'll go with Saheeli's Artistry, to steal the thunder of our foes; what's theirs shall also be ours! Y'arg!!!
6. Forerunner of the Coalition. Less native pirates means less options to tutor for. Replacing with Molten Primordial, which is always a good time had by all. Bonus points if you use this with Arcane Adaptation and Admiral Brass to steal our opponent's other creatures.
7. Warkite Marauder. Warkite Marauder sinks some hits for us, shutting down would be chump blockers, pillow forts, and more. Its a nice twist, though, that serves up some unexpected blocking interference, and has proven worthwhile.
8. Wurmcoil Engine. This is going in a Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest, so we'll replace it with Blatant Thievery instead. Playtest note: this swap has paid off, forcing two 'scoops' by opponents already. Huzzah!
9. Xenograft. Honestly, this deck probably needs a different commander, because turning everything into pirates is underwhelming enough to dissuade me from wanting a duplicate effect. Instead, this deck would benefit from additional bodies and mana-fixing - Burnished Hart is in..
