BRAGO, TOKEN ONSLAUGHT

"His body would deteriorate, but he wouldn't die."

Welcome to an in-depth, in-progress primer of Brago, King Eternal and his onslaught of tokens. Brago is considered a top-tier Commander by many, likely because of his infinitely abusable triggered ability. Like all other Brago decks, we plan to capitalize off this ability.

1. Make sure you start with atleast 3 mana in hand. Either two lands and a mana rock, or three lands. The hope is that you'll be able to get a fourth by the time you can cast Brago.

  1. Priority goes to getting Brago on the field so that you can play a token generator the next turn and blink it in the same turn. You can go token generator first if you have Lightning Greaves on the field, but we want to swing with Brago when we've already got a token generator on the field.

2.5. Brago needs to be able to connect with a player, so unblockable is key if you can't fly over their creatures.

  1. Token Generators! Once Brago's on the field, we need to build our boardstate to work towards a win.

  2. Now we either need to win the game or protect our creatures. We protect our creatures through cards like Inner Sanctum or Knight-Captain of Eos. We win the game with cards like Venser, the Sojourner or Geist-Honored Monk.

This deck is not utilized best in 1v1 simply because it is rather slow to start. Once it gets rolling, though, you're borderline unstoppable.

Struggles against: Fast decks Land destruction (in the early stages, before mana rocks) Massive removal Commander zapping

Excels against: Slow decks Beatdown decks Combo decks (as long as you counter the right spell)

The most important part of this deck is making sure that Brago gets on the field and can consistently hit your opponent. That means you need to make protection and unblockable your priorities, unless they don't have flying/reach.

This is where Brago truly shines. What's great is he's not a threat right out of the gate, but he builds boardstate really quickly. Get Strionic Resonator out early and you've nearly won the game!

The way to play is mainly set up your board and then protect your shit so you can either outlast your foes or take them out a turn at a time (or, all at once!)

Common Combos: Combos that show up in just about every Brago Deck card:Brago, King Etneral + Sol Ring/Thran Dynamo/Basalt Monolith/Gilded Lotus + Strionic Resonator = Infinite Blink combo.

Brago, King Eternal + Cloudform/Lightform = One of my favorite combos. You blink both the enchantment and the manifested card (as long as it is a permanent), and this will grant us another manifested card, and whatever permanent was just manifested. This equates to land ramp, massive board state, etc. Cycle through your entire deck to win the game!

card:Brago, King Etneral + Glen Elendra Archmage = They only way they can play noncreature spells is to play two spells you don't want them to play twice in a row. This is brutal in 1v1

Brago, King Eternal + Reality Acid/Spine of Ish Sah = Remove a permanent a turn.

Specific Combos: Combos that show up in this deck, but generally not other decks.

Brago, King Eternal + Beguiler of Wills + Lightning Greaves = Steal two creatures a turn. Combo with another blink ability to get three or four!

Rite of Replication(kicked) + Beguiler of Wills + Lightning Greaves = Steal 6 creatures a turn! Evil!

Brago, King Eternal + Elspeth Tirel = Get three soldiers, blink, then gain 3 more life than you would have! Additionally, this preps her ult for the next turn if you need it.

Brago, King Eternal/Conjurer's Closet + Knight-Captain of Eos = Fog every turn!

Opposition + any number of tokens = Tap your opponents out during their upkeep. OR tap all their creatures so they can't attack. OR, make sure they don't use that sweet activated ability at the right time.

Areas of need:

Ramp

Protection

Recovering from board wipes/Brago zapping
