Sideboard

Pioneer deck built around the interaction between Waste Not and wheel cards like Dark Deal and Collective Defiance . Use discard and spot removal in the early game to deal with low CMC threats, then wheel away what's left in the midgame to pull ahead.

Thanks to Lord_Cuddles from mtgdecks.com for the idea; this list is a version of their Frontier list updated to my liking for Pioneer. Harsh Mentor is an interesting flex slot and I'm not sure how it will pan out. It seems fantastic against Copycat and decent against DRS, Marvel, or control planeswalkers. However, it doesn't seem great against aggro (the pings from Smuggler's Copter usually won't be relevant because we're not trying to race) and folds hard to Oko, Thief of Crowns so the popularity of those two archetypes will largely dictate Harsh Mentor's slot in the future.

Liliana, the Last Hope is another upcoming all-star that's on the bubble. She can size down problem creatures and synergize with our Waste Not zombies, but the deck almost always wants to be wheeling or playing K Command on turn 3. LTLH is probably the spiciest thing in the format to drop from a Yahenni's Expertise , though.
