klauss-ama, this is a Standard legal deck. Thank you for the suggestions, though!

Nice deck. Have you looked at Bloodhall Priest? I just built a Vampire deck on Friday night to play in EMGD over the weekend and I loved it. Kalitas and his Bloodsucking Madness check it out, let me know what you think. +1 from me

ocary13, I have indeed looked at adding 2x Bloodhall Priest, but I wasn't sure how to get it into the deck. Suggestions are welcome! I have tried the card, but it just didn't work well. I think that it has a lot to do with the flow of the deck. I would like to get the card into the deck, but I haven't figured out the good combo for it just yet. Again, suggestions are definitely welcome!

Ah okay. When I had initially made post I hadn't even seen that it was in the maybe-board. I would definitely recommend getting her when you can though. I have her in my vampire deck and she is an absolute powerhouse.
August 19, 2016 12:41 a.m.
If I put Olivia, Mobilized for War in the deck it would change the way the deck is meant to be played. Like this deck has no graveyard recursion or madness to really get her off. I personally do not like her.
August 19, 2016 12:27 p.m.
klauss-ama, well I do have 3x Corpse Churn, but I agree that's hardly enough on its own. There are three other cards that enable madness: Heir of Falkenrath Flip, Insolent Neonate, and Stromkirk Condemned, so there's actually more than Corpse Churn. In my opinion, for Olivia, Mobilized for War to be truly effective, she needs to get out by turn 5 at the very latest, and followed quickly by other creatures (which madness can help facilitate). I can activate madness, then activate it a second time using Olivia. It's not as bad of a setup as it first appears, at least in my humble opinion.

Stab, I now have 2x Olivia, Mobilized for War. Any suggestions on what to cut to fit the 2x? I appreciate any suggestion! I'm thinking maybe 1x Drana, Liberator of Malakir as she's a legendary, and 1x Voldaren Pariah Flip as she is actually difficult to get out (via madness) and flipped in the current meta of my friends and local game store.
August 28, 2016 7:10 p.m.
I think just cutting 2 Voldaren Pariah Flip would be fine but you could also try cutting 1 Drana, Liberator of Malakir and then one pariah instead. I personally only have 2 Drana in my deck. It allows me to make room for more vampires. Some that I would recommend checking out are Asylum Visitor(Card draw helps fuel the madness), Furyblade Vampire(nice madness enabler), Incorrigible Youths(you only ever want to cast it for its madness cost but when you do its awesome), and Olivia's Bloodsworn(it seems to me that most people find it a little underwhelming but I love its ability). If you would like to check out my list it is at Team Edward EMN

Very cool! I might suggest collective brutality for hand control because it also combos well with madness and has uses when you're not playing against an instant or sorcery heavy deck. +1. Just a quick question, though. How did you get neonate out turn one and condemned out turn two? I don't see the mana capacity for that in your deck. I've been having this problem with my own deck and I just want to know how or if you're getting around it.
September 1, 2016 11:10 p.m.
(Also, I would strongly suggest running the bloodhall priest. She's pulled the game for me more than once. I've even been considering running a third one in my deck :P. Maybe take out a gorger? Getting multiple copies per game is pretty useless.)
September 1, 2016 11:13 p.m.
Simonbarsinister, thanks for catching my mistake-- Stromkirk Condemned was turn three and Drana, Liberator of Malakir was turn 4, but, as I changed the update above to reflect, I have had Stromkirk Condemned out on turn 2 and Drana, Liberator of Malakir out turn 3! I have been able to do the turn 1, 2, and 3 trick with Foreboding Ruins, but I only currently have a single copy (which is why it is not in the deck above-- yet!).
I have Bloodhall Priest in my maybeboard. I've tried it before, but with little effect. I think it has to do with the current synergy of the deck. It'll take time and a lot of play testing to get a good balance.
Thanks for the suggestions!

Simonbarsinister, I did make the adjustment and added Foreboding Ruins and twice (out of five games) today I ruined my opponent's day by getting Insolent Neonate out turn 1, Stromkirk Condemned out turn 2, and either Drana, Liberator of Malakir (1 game out of 5) or Bloodhall Priest (1 game out of 5) out during turns 1, 2, and 3!
Starting hand in the first game was 1x Foreboding Ruins, 2x Swamp, 1x Insolent Neonate, 1x Stromkirk Condemned, 1x Drana, Liberator of Malakir, and 1x Stensia Masquerade. It all worked so well that the game was over in about 7 turns!
I strongly recommend Foreboding Ruins to get a red creature out turn 1, then use it for black to get out subsequent creatures. Very effective.
September 5, 2016 9:16 p.m.
No Stensia Banquet? Blood Mist might also be a good consideration, since Double Strike can be a brutal ability, but Stensia Masquerade is probably a much better choice of the two. Indulgent Aristocrat wouldn't be a bad consideration, since you could discard a card for Call of the Bloodline, hopefully use Madness for discarded card, get token and then sacrifice the token to beef all your vamps without having to deal combat damage.
September 23, 2016 4:39 p.m.
Also Falkenrath Gorger to give all Vamps Madness and benefit your discard mechanic more. Null Caller maybe? If you don't have much to bring creatures back, then it'd work good with Kalitas or just make nice fodder. Vampire Cutthroat for a cheap Lifelink with Skulk.
September 23, 2016 4:51 p.m.
ChampionWiggles, I had Falkenrath Gorger in an earlier evolution of the deck but I found the card to not synergize well enough. I had a better time replacing it with Bloodhall Priest and and additional Stensia Masquerade. I know that people love the gorger, but I just didn't find it operating well because it is only a 2/1. It was killed soooo easily that it wasn't worth it. I think that Village Messenger Flip is a better 1 drop because of the menace.
Vampire Cutthroat has been playtested and is interesting, but it ads little to the deck as I would have to remove burn/removal cards and I'm not willing to do that. It is a good card, just not quite the right card for the deck at the moment. Maybe as the Kaladesh rotation comes around it may have a place in this deck.
Null Caller is interesting. It's ability is expensive, though, at 4 mana. I would rather have Vampire Envoy for 3 mana, and I did have that in this deck in the earlier evolution. Just didn't synergize as well as I had hoped.
Thanks for the suggestions! I'll keep looking at Vampire Cutthroat!
September 23, 2016 6:06 p.m.
ChampionWiggles, forgot to mention that Stensia Banquet is indeed interesting. That might be a card for the sideboard to consider. I have playtested it with mixed results, and it does require additional work.
Thanks for the suggestion!

I just built a B/R vamp deck as well, although our decks only have like 1 or 2 cards in common. Lol
Awesome deck though! Really like how you're using Stromkirk Condemned. I have him in mine, looks like I might need 2x more!

Oh sorry about that. I just play casual so I didn't know. Awesome deck though! Your deck just reminds me how many awesome vampires I had to leave outta mine.
You're welcome man!

Nice Deck Vamps are starting to shine a little bit. I run something similar
November 25, 2016 10:34 p.m.
It's pretty cool for a deck, I like the unexpensive way to create it. When I run my Vampires deck I put [Falkenrath Gorger] instead of [insolate neonate] and [Smoggler's Copter] instead of key to the city. Why did you play 3x[stensia Maskerade] if you have only 2 you will be able to draw at least one each match up, you don't need to have 2-3 on the table (well because what I like in that enchantment was the first strike and I think an extra counter is expensive for 3 mana) If you put 2xstensia you will be able to put 4xFierry temper.
December 3, 2016 5:24 a.m.
Charley007, thanks for the comments and suggestions! I had Falkenrath Gorger in this deck when I first made it, but it wasn't terribly effective. It would get removed quickly, and I wasn't able to capitalize on its ability very well. Insolent Neonate seems to be viewed as a far smaller threat to opponents, and the menace makes it very annoying. It will stay on the board considerably longer than Falkenrath Gorger, in my experience. Moreover, I can enable madness and draw a card if it is removed. Falkenrath Gorger is a good card, it just didn't seem to function well for me. It's probably more of a statement about me, my abilities, and/or my playing style...
I have 3x Stensia Masquerade because I found that 2x just didn't bring it up often enough. They do indeed stack, though, so I can get 2x +1/+1 counters if I get more than one out. That very rarely happens. I rely on this card a bit, so it has worked well for me to have 3x.
Smuggler's Copter, yeah, if only I had $35-$40 to drop on 4 cards it would be great. I don't though, so Key to the City is the poor man's version of that (without the 3/3 and flying part, unfortunately...).
Thanks again for the suggestions!

Hi again BioProfDude, I know copter are expensive, but you don't need 4x ( I had 4x on mine and I sometime get stuck because they clean the board but I draw 2-3 copter before taken an creature so I think just 2 would be great, you will almost always have one on an match up and never 2 on battlefield.)
To get more Madness have you try Ravenous Bloodseeker or Olivia's Dragoon? Also, instead of Grasp of darkness have you try Incendiary Flow so you can burn your opponent or burn a creature or planewalker (I put that card on side is really pretty cool when you need to exile a creature exemple the zombie) but in your main deck have you try Distemper of the Blood this if you have alot of madness you will spit all your card on the table, (like when you are sick, I'am sorry I am french and I was stuck on a word I don't find, and too lazy to google translate it:P) and also it will let your creature survive.
My vampire deck had 22 discard card, and 14 (or 12 don't remember) madness cards if everything go well, I kill my opponent on turn 4-5, but if I cannot kill at turn 5-6, I die because he start to put big creatures, that's why I place 2x Hijack on side. I was thinking in my deck to try to make room for 2x Gonti, Lord of Luxury to have a deathtouch firststrike creature, but I never try that (it will be a vampire if you can enter on the battlefield will discard a card with Olivia).
O well, That's it for the moment, I really hope that's will help you, have a nice day!

clark1424 and hardhitta71194, copy the code text below into your deck description. Then change the name of the deck from mine ("br-vampires-for-fun-and-madness" except don't put any quotes around it) to your deck name. To find how to correctly put in the name of your deck, look at the URL of your browser for the way to put in the name with the dashes. For example, "R/B" is just "rb," and other symbols may or may not be used.
Another way to find the way to name your deck in this is to hover the mouse over your +1 button on the left side navigation and the name will be embedded within the "link" for your current button.
a class="vote-link btn btn-success btn-sm" href="/mtg-decks/br-vampires-for-fun-and-madness/vote-up/?rc=True">+1 Upvote
Put a "<" at the beginning of this string of code (no space between the "<" and "a class=..."), and a ">" at the end of this string of code (no space between the ">" and ".../a").

If you like those instructions for making a +1 voting button and have not yet upvoted the deck, I encourage you to do so now! :-D
December 5, 2016 1:08 p.m.
After "...+1 Upvote", there should be a less than sign "<" and a forward slash "/" and the letter "a" all together without spaces, then, per my previous instructions, add the greater than symbol ">" immeadiately following the "a" that was at the end.
Not sure why that bit of text is getting cut off. Obviously has something to do with what that code indicates should be seen or not seen.
December 5, 2016 1:15 p.m.
Awesome! Thanks a million man! I'm gonna go try it on my Vampire deck.
I've already upvoted the deck. I would gladly give 2 if I could.
Thanks for the instructions now I'm off to see how bad I can screw it up.
December 5, 2016 1:54 p.m.
Success! Your instructions worked. Thanks again man!

I suggest Stensia Banquet it does a lot of damage in this deck and draws you a card.
