Sideboard

This is an aggro/midrange beatdown deck that focuses around playing gold red/white cards to best effect. Cards like Scourge of the Nobilis, Sunforger, and Balefire Liege pump up red/white creatures with double strike or flying while burn spells clear the way. Suggestions are welcome.

All the cards I chose were in part because of being both red and white. If you're on a budget, use fewer lieges and more other stuff

Mainboard:

Lands:

The mana base is simply 23 lands: 4 Clifftop Retreat plus 10 Mountain and 9 Plains. The retreats are usually enough to not get mana screwed and they are relatively cheap.

Creatures:

Figure of Destiny - A one drop that you still want to draw on turn six? Yes please.

Boros Recruit - I needed another one drop, and these have first strike.

Battlegate Mimic - Bread and butter of the deck, the ability should trigger almost every turn.

Boros Swiftblade - Double strike works very well in this deck.

Skyknight Legionnaire - Flying and haste. Can't complain.

Hearthfire Hobgoblin - More double strike.

Brion Stoutarm - 4/4 lifelink for four plus a useful ability.

Iroas, God of Victory - Great abilities, and it's really easy to get devotion with this deck.

Balefire Liege - Gives all your creatures +2/+2 and whenever you play a spell lightning helix their face. If the game isn't over yet when you get one or two of these out, it should win it for you.

Instants:

Lightning Bolt - Being the most efficient burn spell in magic is enough to warrant it not being gold.

Lightning Helix - For one more mana you get a gold lightning bolt that gains life. Very strong vs aggro.

Boros Charm - A strong, versatile card. It helps that it's gold. I would probably add more if I had them.

Artifacts:

Isochron Scepter - Imprint any of the instants in this deck to reuse them every turn!

Sunforger - You can tutor for any of your instants, or just give a creature with flying or double strike +4/+0.

Enchantments:

Scourge of the Nobilis - +2/+2, lifelink, and fire breathing. Even if your opponent has a lot of removal, it can be worth it to get one attack in with this. If not, sideboard them out. If they don't have removal, sideboard the rest in.

Sideboard:

Creatures:

Anax and Cymede - I'll put this in if I end up using the full playset of scourges.

Boros Reckoner - Strong card, I'll replace the hobgoblins with these if they have a lot of burn.

Flame-Kin Zealot - Decent all around card in this deck, might replace it with something else later.

Instants:

Disenchant - Board them in against any deck that relies on artifacts or enchantments.

Bathe in Light - Giving everything protection is nice. I'll put them in for the scourges against heavy removal.

Path to Exile - Good removal against big creatures that burn can't deal with.

Warleader's Helix - A bigger Lightning Helix you can still get with Sunforger. I might replace this.

Artifact:

Dolmen Gate - Nice ability, but it's not gold, so I probably won't use it.

Enchantment:

Scourge of the Nobilis - A playset is amazing if they don't have removal.
