I love watching my opponents reactions when their life total goes from 20 to 0 in the course of one turn. If you do too you’re gonna want to take a look at this. I call it “Boros Death Star” because the goal of the deck is to assemble the pieces of a combo that will put an opponents life to zero in one shot (or gain infinite life). I say assemble the pieces, but most of the time you will only need two, and there are numberless ways of making it happen.

Here are some of the most common combos: For my purposes here when I say Boros Reckoner , I mean any of these three; Boros Reckoner , Spitemare , or Truefire Captain

• Boros Reckoner + Volcano Hellion . If you have a higher life-total than your opponent this is an instant win, otherwise you need a Pariah , Mortal's Ardor , or Platinum Emperion to keep yourself from dying.

• Madcap Experiment + Platinum Emperion (in library). if your Platinum Emperion is still in the library and you cast a Madcap Experiment you will dig through the library until you find the Emperion which will go directly onto the battlefield, which if not removed is game winning. You can protect it with Boros Charm or just give him double strike if he isn't blocked.

• Blasphemous Act + Boros Reckoner . Fairly self explanatory, does x*13 Damage to the opponents face where x is the number of Reckoners on the field. 2 Reckoners is usually lethal. Also just a good wrath in sticky situations

• Boros Reckoner + Nahiri's Wrath this is a way to possibly end the game when your hand gets a little clogged up with your expensive spells. Platinum Emperion is not meant to be cast from the hand and Blasphemous Act is sometimes too expensive, so we have Nahiri's Wrath to make use of these high CMC spells and possibly close out the game. Seems janky, but has actually worked well in practice.

• Boros Charm + Boros Reckoner + Mortal's Ardor + any damage to the Reckoner. One of the two infinite life combos. when a Reckoner has indestructible and lifelink it can redirect any amount of damage back to itself an arbitrary amount of times to gain an arbitrarily high amount of life.

• Mortal's Ardor + Volcano Hellion . With 5 mana and these two cards, you can gain infinite life and shoot a creature. with Volcano Hellion s ETB trigger on the stack (doing infinite damage to you and a creature)simply give him lifelink with Mortal's Ardor . I love Infinite life.

• Madcap Experiment + Pariah . When Madcap Experiment finds your Platinum Emperion it still technically "does damage" to you, your life total just doesn't change from it, so your pariah redirect still applies. if this redirect is happening to a Reckoner then you probably just won the game.

These are the core combos in the deck, there are a few more janky interactions that just happen to be there, but these are the ones that will win you the game. I love this deck because every card has multiple interactions with other cards in the deck. It can adapt to your opponent even in game one because of its multiple paths to victory. Many combo pieces can also be used to control the board until you can do your thing. You rarely have to mulligan compared to other combo decks because most of the pieces can stand on their own, or interact with 30% of your possible draws. And most of all its a blast to play.
