In the flames all is concealed
So I thought with the newest set(Ravnica Allegiance)getting dropped early on MTG ARENA, I should share my new standard build! Its mostly focused around your standard Red Deck Wins setup(who am I to argue with success) with a healthy boost from those crazy Rakdos clan peeps. Since
Skewer the Critics
is essentially a
Lava Spike
with a condition and
Wizard's Lightning
is basically a
Lightning Bolt
with a condition, I thought maybe it is best to start the build there.
Plenty of opportunities to sneak in damage during your turn to activate "STC" built in without even having to waste your precious Instants.
Fanatical Firebrand
is a great place to start. He enters the field ready to do work and without excuses. You can swing when he enters or you can sac at anytime. Great for dinking your opponents life away slowly or taking away important resources at critical times. Next up is
Viashino Pyromancer
, this one very quickly and efficiently sets up "STC"s condition and even has the additional bonus of possibly removing a scary planeswalker from the field. Heck, this well rounded fellow even has the ability of bringing "WL" online as well. And finally, Rounding up our painful ETB creatures,
Goblin Chainwhirler
, Richard Garfield's not so secret, best gift ever to red players. This guy just straight up mops fields only by entering! I've seen many players just fold the moment they see him! At with an easy 3R cost, you should have no problem cranking this guy out and still having mana left up to do extra work.
Rounding up our 8 Wizard set,
Ghitu Lavarunner
. I'll admit when I first saw this lil' guy I completely underestimated him. But daaang, he comes in fast and hits hard. He'll win you a game in a pinch or draw removal for when your are ready for your next move. At that cost and with such an easy condition to meet, he is almost always online and ready to play. Useful for both bringing "STC" and "WL" online at just the cheapest cost imaginable.
The last creature is almost certainly the most important for creating wins when you shouldn't have and putting mana where it shouldn't have be. I could only be talking about
Runaway Steam-Kin
. I don't know how it is so scary, but it just friggin works. It's a slow creature, sure, but sometimes its lack of immediate threat lets it slip under the radar next to all of these other terrifying beasts. But when that happens, well... it might just be game over for your opponent. It gets big real fast. It feeds your pool at whatever speed you need. It makes two mana games W.I.N. by paying for nearly everything in the deck on it's own. The Izzet come up with some wierd stuff...
Anyway, thats my rant. Please play the deck!
