Description

So this is my competitive tournament deck, but i need some help to tune it a little. Help is appreciated! Thanks!

mainboard explanations:
so, there are some cards i have in the mainboard that might need some explaining. Field of Ruin is in there to deal with utility lands that decks such as mono red have, but it can also be a ghost quarter for anyone stuck on lands. Torrential Gearhulk is a card that basically gives you an extra copy of every instant and sorcery in your deck and its an advantage in the mirror because its also an extra win-con.

Something i really do need advice on though is whether i should run 1 or 2 Search for Azcanta  Flip and if i should run 2, what should i cut?

Updates

I have decided to change the deck to blue white approach, but unlike lots of the list that can be seen going 5-0 in mtgo leagues this one runs torrential gearhulk as a two-of because of the amount of u/w approach decks right now, and i think it will help with the mirror to have extra threats.

OK some quick initial impressions.

I believe that Glacial Fortress would serve you better than Irrigated Farmland. You have enough draw in the deck, and the faster land would stop you being mana screwed early on.

I would take Approach of the Second Sun out. It is just taking up the space of more Control spells.

There are dedicated decks that try to win with that card. They are
, and use lots of Draw and Counter spells. You either need to play that kind of deck or ditch that spell imo.

Your curve is too high for Control. You need a whole lot more 1 and 2 drops. A playset of Magma Spray, Harnessed Lightning, and Essence Scatter, for a start. Some Lightning Strike would also be useful.

Nine board wipe cards seems a little excessive. I would cut it back to six, or maybe even five.

A playset of Torrential Gearhulk are being run by most Control decks.

Two questions I'd try to focus on are:

  1. How will this deck win?

  2. Can I drop it to two colours?

It would be more consistent with two colours.

Three colour Creature decks are only really possible at the moment due to Unclaimed Territory. That land doesn't help this deck.

If you make any changes give me a heads up and I'll take another look.

Hope that helped a bit.

I've now tested this against a variety of decks, which is why it took me so long to get back to you, and it seems to work against them all.

Aggro, Control, Creature-heavy, Midrange - it handles everything.

You can take the Needs Help tag off it, because it's ready to play competitively.

I've linked to this deck in my Sideboard notes for I Drink Your Milkshake.

It might end up driving some extra traffic your way, but will also tell people how to Board against you.

Let me know if you want me to remove the link.
