The main purpose of the deck is to utilize the ability of Nightsky Mimic and turn Athreos, God of Passage into a creature. However, making a deck around these two ideas makes Deathbringer Liege the best card in the deck because it provides +2/+2 to all of the creatures and almost every spell that is cast will remove an opponents creature.
Lifegain is also another mechanism of the deck. Lifegain cards include Divinity of Pride, Souls of the Faultless, Sorin, Solemn Visitor, Vault of the Archangel, and Vizkopa Guildmage.
Almost every spell in the deck is black and white which play along with the ability of Nightsky Mimic. I like this card because of its ability to hit for 4 damage as early as turn 3. In combination with Edge of the Divinity this card could hit for 13 on turn 3. Attaching Edge of the Divinity to any creature in the deck will provide +3/+3 for only 1 mana.
Athreos, God of Passage is a very powerful 3 drop but requires 7 devotion from both white and black. The majority of the creatures are multiple devotion which will make it much easier to reach the 7 devotion required. Even if its not a creature it can counter burn/control decks by requiring them pay an additional 3 life to put the card into the graveyard. When it is a creature, its a 3 drop with 5/4 and indestructible which is incredible value on its own.
Deathbringer Liege provides +2/+2 to the majority of the creature in the deck. As previously stated, almost every spell in the deck is both white and black which is a tap and kill every turn. It also helps to turn Nightsky Mimic into a 4/4 flyer and Athreos, God of Passage into a creature.
Vizkopa Guildmage is another win condition. When combined with Vault of the Archangel or Sorin, Solemn Visitor the ability to gain life and lose life could very easily end the game.
Divinity of Pride plays well with lifegain and is a finisher in this deck.
Emerge Unscathed provides protection for creatures from removal spells. It also can also make a creature unblockable to finish off the game. Rebound effect makes the opponent constantly have to think about it or find a way to remove it from the graveyard.
The sideboard is going to need some work.
