Cut the Blood Hall for another Mountain. More Caverns should help fix as well.
I have been debating a creature kill deck based aroundBlood Artist , and Falkenrath Noble s ability. this is pretty close to what i was thinking, but between Lord of Lineage Flip Flip, and Vampire Nocturnus I feel the Stromkirk Captain is kinda of overkill.besides I would rather have more creature removal, and be able to play my cards reliably.heres the deck I'm building. I still have to whittle it down to 60 but it should give you some ideas on replacing the captains.http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/vamp-destruction-1/
Nice Deck jurgiano, it looks great, I agree with piroteknix about the blood hall, if you can get another cavern of souls, I think it will help greatly.
Hey everyone! Thanks for the comments. They are greatly appreciated.
@@charizard : I do not have the Stromkirk Nobles in the deck simply because they are a red source that would diminish the chance of killing with a vampire hoard lead by nocturnus. I have found that not only does typhoid rats contribute to that but it also keeps people from swinging with their huge creatures with my rat untapped. I faced someone last week that had a Phyrexian Obliterator with a lashwrithe on it and wouldn't swing because I removed all the rest of his creatures and had my rat untapped.
@morphranos : This isn't technically a creature kill deck in my eyes. I see it more as a vamp aggro. The idea is to get out as many creatures as possible before turn 4, then drop the Vampire Nocturnus to swing for the fences. Adding the Stromkirk Captain and Lord of Lineage, I can swing for double lethal by turn 7 or 8. I actually happened to swing for 36 flying on turn 7 in my last FNM. Having 13 spot removal out of 60 cards always leaves me with options. However, I do like the different perspective you have provided.
@piroteknix & SlifertheCanadian : I'm glad you like the deck. I did find another cavern. I am trying to find a couple more just because I'm sick of getting stuck with a Captain in my hand with no red mana (has only happened a few times). Thank you guys for the suggestion.
Other than that, I am not sure what could make this deck faster/more efficient. If anyone comes up with anything clever, shout it out. I just place top 50% at the PTQ last Saturday. I could have been top 25% without playing 2 infect decks (blue/green and green) that destroyed me on turn 3 per game. Hopefully RTR comes out with some good removal for black so that I can be truly happy that infect is rotating.
One thing, and maybe it's just because I'm an oldschool player, but lose the Vampire Nocturnus , don't get me wrong the card is amazing but if your gonna play multicolor then play multicolor, Nocturnus is a monocolor-based card.
I gave up on trying to keep my decks standard, and I created one of the first vampire decks before the red vamps were even introduced, Gatekeepers, Nighthawks, pulsetrackers, Malkir Bloodwitches, and BOOM! Black Vampire Aggro/Control. Zendikar and Worldwake had the best vampires.
Oh yea I know B/R Vamps are the shit but they aren't original. I've never seen a Aggro/Control Vamp deck like mine, and that's how I wanna keep it. I think MTG is getting less and less creative, at the time my Vamps were creative and original.
I forgot to mention the best card out of it all though Captivating Vampire .
And I still hold my ground that Nocturnus shouldn't be in a multicolor, there are too many chances for it to NOT be a black card that it's not worth the risk.
Aw. I gotcha. Still i want to Captivating Vampire is just as good or better than the captains, then again I run control so.... But if you want to see my deck and how I ran it that'd be coolz. it's called Sorin's Covenant.
@Tybalt I originally had Typhoid Rats in as my one drop creature. It seemed to work well at stalling the opponent. I recently replaced them with some Stromkirk Noble s. I haven't been able to try these out but I don't think it will work in my favor. Yes, it is the only one drop vamp in standard, but A: it takes away from Nocturnus, and B: It's gonna be tough getting the mana for it early. Maybe with the addition of Blood Crypt it will fix my mana. Also, I updated my deck to be standard post rotation, so I took out Child of Night for Vampire Interloper . Do you think this is a good idea or should I stick in my rats for the 2-drop spot?
@DrkNinja I understand what you mean about your vampire deck. Believe me, i wish cards like those were in standard right now. I could use a card like Pulse Tracker as a 1-drop. However, I have not been playing long and my local card store doesn't have modern tourneys too often. This is why I want to make this standard. Currently, there are only 5 red spells and 20 land so I will hit a black card more than half the time. Plus, he is the reason I built this deck so I am going to keep him in just for the shear fact that he is really fun to play with. Do you have any suggestions to make this deck better/faster with the cards that are going to be in standard post rotation?
Thank you very much!
I just added 2x Duty-Bound Dead . I hope that helps things...
I've found that playtesting on this site is no where near the actual play of the deck. I guess I'll just have to proxy some stuff in to see how it really plays. I hope I can continue to do well with this deck post rotation. If I can't I'm gonna be building a B/G zombie deck. I usually play decks that are just fun to play, not just what the top tier decks are. Usually I do pretty well. After all, that's what this game is all about, having fun. :-)
I suppose that is very true. What do you think about it in this deck. Idk if I'd rather have that or the cackler as a one drop. there was also the spoiled Deathrite Shaman. I kinda really want that as a one drop with its "1B, exile target instant or sorcery card from a graveyard. Each opponent loses 2 life." ability.
