Planeswalker (1)

If you have checked out any of my other decks you will see I love tribal or theme decks. If you haven't, Go look I will put links at the end of the description.

Here it is! This deck is the worst I have ever built. People are going to hate me for this deck.

If you want to lose your friends this is the deck, it's almost as bad as Leovold, Emissary of Trest

This is not the first Competitive deck that I have made but I think its the most degrading deck with . That being said this is not your average deck. Bant colors provide us with the perfect set of colors for a Hate bears-style deck. White gives us access to all the best Hate bears, Green gives us access to all important ramp along with a myriad of tutors, and Blue gives us better stack-based interaction, along with additional card advantage.

This is STAX and control with out being to much of a dick and keeping some kind of theme to it.

This deck started with the idea of making a Bird tribal deck. It wasn't very powerful but fun to play. Attacking with a board full of birds for the win sounds great but couldn't really win.

So here we are to version 2.0 of the birds deck. Version 1 - Rain of Feathers [[Primer]]

So the idea behind the deck is to land a series of hate pieces early in the game, stacking the cumulative effects of various effects to make the other decks at the table struggle to implement their game plan. This deck excels against fast, spell-based combo decks such as Zur the Enchanter and Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge. Slightly shakier are creature-based combo decks like General Tazri and Karador, Ghost Chieftain, because although we have the tools to disrupt decks like those as well, we lack the critical mass of hate pieces for those strategies.

Step 1: First you want to get protection and hopefully some ramp

Step 2: The plan is to play some kind of stax to lock down the board.

Step 3: Play your birds and flying creatures to attack for the win

Cards that Matter

Draw Power:

Crookclaw Elder, Windreader Sphinx, Rhystic Study, Sphinx's Revelation, Aven Fateshaper , Skullclamp, Zendikar Resurgent, and Cryptic Command

All of these will help pump and keep you creatures alive.

Cathars' Crusade, Gravitational Shift, Soulcatchers' Aerie , Aven Brigadier , Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite, Bear Umbra, and Aerie Mystics

Because we are also in green we are able to play all of the elves we want. The two best ones in this deck are Selvala, Explorer Returned and Shaman of Forgotten Ways for obvious reasons.

With ramp we also have things that make everything cheaper to play. These are cards like Warden of Evos Isle and Grand Arbiter Augustin IV

This is a STAX deck as with everyother deck like this the biggest win con is to lock down the board so only you can play spells and attack. This fills most of the deck see if you can stop them all.

I am not really a fan of infinite combos...They can make the game a little faster but are not the way I want to win. Also with STAX you don't need an infinite combo just stop everyone else trying to do it.

This deck is kind of a traditional STAX deck. Lock down the battlefield stopping everyone from playing and attacking you then swing out with the birds.

I think it is extremely messed up to play. On the other hand playing a deck that no one expects is always fun and it is cloaked as a basic flier deck.

Love Derevi stax decks in general. This looks sweet.

Any particular reason for the omission of standard taxation effects like Thorn of Amethyst or Sphere of Resistance? Land Equilibrium and Back to Basics are other excellent inclusions in these colors, since you can rely more heavily on dorks instead of nonbasics to fix and smooth your mana.

Thank you for the suggestion!

Bare in mind that this is my first STAX deck. I looked at putting all of the taxation cards in but trying to keep in the theme of the deck. These are cards that I will most likely put in eventually. Also I don't want to be that big of a dick.

What would you suggest taking out of this deck to fill these stops?

Ignoring the on-theme cards, the ones that jump out to me first are Gravitational Shift, Secure the Wastes, Progenitor Mimic, and in a three color deck I'm not sure you can support Cryptic Command all that well.

You can probably also get away with one of either Propaganda or Ghostly Prison - I'm not sure you need both since you can tutor one up if you need to.

I like the idea of taking out Gravitational Shift. In testing it doesn't seem to help as much as it did in my last deck. Cryptic Command is a little tough to cast in a three color deck.

Thank you for the suggestions I am looking into picking up more of these taxing cards. to fill out more of this deck.

Minor update thanks to comments on Taxation.

I will be testing this to see how well it works.

Thank you everyone for the input

Thank you. Let me know how it plays in your meta. It's a really fun deck so far.

June 8, 2017 3:43 p.m.

I made a few changes due to the fact my meta is creature heavy and the deck is a little shaky against creature strategies. But its very effective and fun. Have you thought about Relic Barrier to make Winter Orb and Static Orb one sided? I put in a Trophy Mage along with Fabricate and Enlightened Tutor to search up the orbs and the Relic Barrier and it has been very consistent for me so far.

Now I am curious to see what your deck looks like. I really like the idea of adding Relic Barrier to tap what ever is needed. Trophy Mage is great, I started with it in the deck but pulled it for the bird theme but I think I will add it back in.

Thank you for the suggestions, let me know if you add anything else

This is my current build of your fantastic Idea.

I'm rather surprised there's no Grand Abolisher. It's almost a staple in most control shells that include white.
